Karl, All you have to do if you want to enter a topic is LOOK IT UP ON THE "BOARD INDEX" ! !
Please enter your new topic in the proper category...That is all Robert, Marian & myself are asking.....
For example, there is the Topic- "Your Other Favorite Artists"- where "Dorothy Squires" should be entered...............Thanks in Advance!

Robert, which Marian are you referring to as I am friends with both of them,
however I have noticed that certain members who constantly criticise make the same mistakes as I do! It's rather comforting. :)

Karl, the concert from Llanelli is on cd. It is part of a 2cd set on the President label, the first cd is the concert at the Dominion from 1979 and the other is the the Llanelli one, which was originally released as This Is My Life as Lena and Harry said. I have both the LP and the double cd. The cd is just simply called "Dorothy Squires in Concert", President PCOM 1155.

You're absolutely right John, I had forgotten about that one but I do have it.

I wish they had released all her President albums on cd especially a Best Of including the studio versions of My Way & If You Love Me etc but I suppose I will have to compile one myself.

I also have a very old American album and 45 I was given it during one of my trips there but the condition is great.

Yes, I wish they would release them on cd as well Karl. There is a nice 2 cd set called The Best of, on the EMI Gold label, which has a lot of her 50's and 60's recordings on, plus earlier this year a 3 cd set called Voice Of The Brokenhearted was released concentrating on her recorings from 1936-49. I bought that a while ago, but haven't unwrapped it yet.
I believe if it sold well enough there were plans for another cd set for her later recordings, I am keeping my hopes up for that.

The Emi double is a great release but I did not buy the new 3cd set. the recordings were very old and the price was horrendous - anyway I preferred Dorothy's singing as she got older as she had more edge to her voice.

I have to admit I prefer the later recordings as well.

What a co-incidence, .we are just listening to Dewi Griffiths talking about Dorothy Squires and her Palladium appearance and he is playing Dot's "This Is My Mothers Day" . :)

Marian we can't all like the same but she always spoke very highly of you!!!!!

I never liked her much until she sang My Way & If You Love Me but I must admit after seeing her in concert I was hooked, she worked so hard onstage.

Well it's mental telepathy again, just tuned in to Eric Hall and he's playing Dot, singing a selection of songs. It's "Dot Day" on his programme today and listeners can phone in with a Dorothy Squire record. The man who runs her web-site Chris White is guest today.
Eric loves Dorothy Squires. :)
