ALFIE BOE
Re: ALFIE BOE
I ordered both the Alfie Boe CD and Matt's Words & Music CD from Amazon.com/uk 4 days ago after reading your posts on Alfie Boe (New to me).
I was happy to learn he is Italian on his Mother's side as we all know that Italians have the best voices (the exception being Matt & me)!!
I find that ordering from Amazon/uk is usually cheaper than Amazon/USA even after paying the shipping, and they have many CDs that
are unavailable here in the U.S.

That's good Henry, and hope you receive them very soon. Both CDs are excellent.
Italian Tenors and Crooners have made an incredible contribution to the music industry Henry and we are appreciative and forever grateful.
Matt was British through and through and the best. The very start of this latest CD is breathtaking and just another example and proof.

Another new album from Alfie due at the end of October. Available to pre-order from Amazon under the title "Music Of the Night", but this might not be the final title.
Also track list not finally decided yet, but I'm presuming Music of the Night will be one of them!
Alfie will be guest mentor on Popstar to Operstar next Sunday in place of Rolando.

Re: ALFIE BOE
That sounds interesting---Yes, I did hear that Alfie was going to be on Popstar/Opera star---he may well give us a song---a duet with Katherine would be really good !!!!

Wonderful news that Alfie and Sarah are expecting a new addition to their family in around three months time. They already have a 3 year old daughter, Gracie.
Looking forward to seeing Alfie in Les Mis later today. So happy he is better!

So pleased for you and Peter Marian (and Alfie and family of course)
AND it has stopped raining!!

Re: ALFIE BOE
Marian you sound as if you know Alfie as you mention his wife, I never even knew her name!
Re: ALFIE BOE
No I don't know Alfie Karl, just a lot about him! His wife was an American actress Sarah Jones before she became Mrs Boe.
Unfortunately he couldn't appear again today, so I must admit I was disappointed at first, but Alfie's understudy Chris Jacobsen and the rest of the cast put on a truly magnificent performance, and it was a real pleasure to be in the audience. Matt Lucas almost stole the show as I’m sure he does most days, he is just so right for the role of Thenardier, his wife is played by Harry Secombe's daughter Katy, but I shouldn’t pick individuals out for praise, because everyone was just terrific and so well deserving of the enthusiastic standing ovation they received at the end.

So sorry Alfie wasn't well enough still to appear Marian, but can believe that it was a magnificent show anyway, and that Matt Lucas was superb.

Re: ALFIE BOE
Pleased you enjoyed the show Marian, I had noticed earlier on this evening that Alfie had put a message on facebook apologizing he wasn't well enough for the show this afternoon.
Re: ALFIE BOE
Gald you enjoyed it Marian-I know you would be disppointed not to see Alfie, but he has to put his health first, which I know you will realise.

Re: ALFIE BOE
I checked Alfie's website and I see he is suffering from pharngytis, having suffered from that several times many years ago I can well remember how sore my throat was and I can sympathise with Alfie, it would be impossible and very unwise to attempt to sing in that condition.
I am sure he wil recover soon, not that it helps you Marian it's disappointing not to see your favourites.

Re: ALFIE BOE
So glad you enjoyed the performance Marian, in spite of the disappointment of Alfie still being unfit to appear, but as i've said we have had this experience on a couple of occasions, but those taking over are generally excellent, and by your report on the show this is what has happened.
Hopefully there will be other chances to see Alfie.

Les Mis is one show that has always impressed me with it's incredibly high standards. I have seen the show in London, Edinburgh & San Francisco and I could not say one was better than the other as they were all superb!
The finale with "Do You Hear The People Sing" is one of the most moving things I have seen, apart from Yul Bryner as the King dying in The King & I at the Wang in Boston.
