Ongoing is the right word, Mariana! Hurricane season in the US goes through October. Next comes winter in the north country. We New Englanders are used to hunkering down and doing without. I think we all have Pilgrim blood in us whether or not we are direct descendants. An alternative heat source is really smart and lots of homes are equipped with fireplaces and wood or pellet stoves. We use our pot belly wood stove to heat the kitchen and the propane gas stove to cook our morning pancakes. Gets toasty and comfy here in the snow : )

When I was oin Boston , in 1988--it was so hot, they were selling Fridge Magnets, saying "I survived Boston's hottest summer"---maybe they sell them every year--it's like New York I guess--really hot summers, but very hard winters. We do not normally get such extreme weather conditions over here.
