Hi Gray, it is the first time I have seen this film as well. I bought the film last week, because I knew Peggy Mount was in it. It was about a family from London who go and run a pub in the country. I love these old british comedy films.

Gray, the 8 DVDs in the collection are -

Daddy Long Legs
The Dolly Sisters
Pin Up Girl
On the Avenue
Second Fiddle
The Gang's All Here
Sun Valley Serena
Orchestra Wives

I have watched The Dolly Sisters and Daddy Long Leg's (starring Fred Astaire) so far . Some are in colour, a couple in black and white. Not the most famous musical's ever made, but a decent collection from 20th Century Fox 8) :D

Hi Robert,

Thanks for the listing - that is a terrific box set and I intend to look out for it myself :)

John

I love the old British comedies also but have never heard of Inn For Trouble. Thanks for mentioning it, a new film (to me) to research! :)

Hi Gray, it has to be "Sailor Beware". Thora Hird and Shirley Eaton are also in this film, I think it was also a long running stage show in the fifties, again with Peggy in the lead role, playing Ma Hornett.

Hi John

Thanks for that, I'm struggling to find 'Sailor Beware' on my internet dvd rental service - is it available on Region 2 dvd?
I've stacked 'Inn For Trouble' though, I'll let you know what I think when it arrives.

Robert

I've added Daddy Long Legs to my rental collection too.

I just received my dvd of "The Dolly Sisters" this morning---I was very surprised to see it described as "Contains Mild Horror"

Sat through Atonement, a sprawling lush epic. For me, the highlight was Vanessa Redgrave's appearance at the very end. She overshadowed all the other stars and made the long watch worthwhile.
What a great actress she is! Does anyone here like her?

Hi Gray, yes I am sure "Sailor Beware" is available on Region 2 dvd, I just have it on an old video. Hope you like "Inn for Trouble", or else I'll be in for trouble!

Marian, I think the "mild horror" refers to the car crash involving Jenny. Please check the write up on the back of your DVD cover will you, as on the back of mine there is a very LARGE mistake, as it say's on the back of mine that one of the sisters "Rosie" actually dies from a passing motor car, which is WRONG, as none of them die in the film

The only Fred and Ginger movie I hadn't got was "Roberta" which is not available in the UK  so a couple of weeks ago I ordered it from Amazon.com (USA) - Region 1- to try it in my Sony DVD player. I received it yesterday, and when I tried it in my DVD player it actually works :D :D :D :D there are lot's of DVDs available in the USA that are not available here in the UK. Indeed 4 Eleanor Powell film's are being released in the USA in April, but not here. I think that is why I sent for "Roberta" - to test out the water, so to speak

Hi Robert--yes, it does say that Rosie was killed by the car--and I guessed it was the car accident they were referring to.

Somewhat different to the "mild horror" that is shown these days !!!

Watched Stephen King's "The Mist" last night. Great film, with an unexpected twist at the ending.

I'll look out for that John, we watched 'For Your Consideration', a comedy spoofing the movie industry...average.
