The Boys show is on a Thursday night, the girls and results on a Friday night, but repeated on Sunday afternoon /evening on ITV2

I knw very few of the 70's songs, so did not enjoy either show as much.

I liked Brooke singng "You're so vain"-I think it is great that they can now use instruments of they wanted to. Again, I thought that Amanda would go-I just do not like listening to her. It was a shame Alaina went-she sounded very sweet--and it was quite emotional for her at the end---but as Ryan said--someone has got to go !

I am loving this format where they have 20 to start--then whittle them down to 12---it gives a few more a chance to shine. I wisdh they would do x-factor like that, as soome good singers just do not get through, as there are only 12 places!!

I don't know their names as I don't usually watch but the girl who sang "Hopelessly Devoted To You" was quite good and did not deserve to be eliminated.

The one who should have packed up is the one who can sing opera as I thought she sounded flat coming down the stairs.

I agree Terence, and the girl who sang Hopelessly Devoted sounded so much like Olivia Newton-John.

I thought Alaina was very sweet. She had several wrong notes and couldn't hit the high notes (there's only one Olivia Newton-John :) ). Actually she sang better after being voted off than on Wednesday night. I liked her film clip, because I used to use different forks for each food when I was young. So that brought back memories!

Kady (the opera singer) may have had a few wrong notes on Magic Man, but she has 'star' written all over her.

Based on last week's performance, Amanda should have left.

I thought you would comment on David Archuleta's crying when Alexandrea was sent packing. At the time I thought it was a bit excessive, but they are young kids. Later I found out that he actually had beaten her on Star Search six years ago. I remember David very well from that show, but didn't recall Alexandrea. I like when she went to David and hugged him.

This week I expect Chikezie, Luke, Kristy Lee, and Amanda to go. Not sure about Amanda though. It could be Kady or Syesha.

I enjoyed the show last night even though they were eighties songs which I don't particulary like usually. It was just the girl singers and then the vote off. :D :D
Yet again I missed the boys, which apparently was a better show.
Two of those voted off I was quite surprised about. I won't mention who they are yet, in case anyone missed it.
Needless to say though, Amanda is still there and according to Simon gave the best performance of the night!

Well-I did not expect Danny to be knocked out-I think he was a bit shell-shocked too. Although irritating at times, he's a talented boy--perhaps just a bit too full of himself. Needless to say, I did not like Amanda-she is not the type of singer that I listen to. I thought the others were all fine--although again-I did not expect Luke to go--or Asia'h.

But what surprised me most was I actually really liked Blake Lewis and his song....

I was pleased that Danny went and not one of my favourites David Hernandez. Asia'h was good initially, but seemed to lose some magic. I think the top three at the end will be David Archuleta, David Cook, and Jason Castro. They seem to have the most fans. The boys are definitely better singers and performers than the girls this year. I can't wait for Beatles night on Tuesday! :) :!: 8)

I couldn't listen to Blake Lewis and fastforwarded through him after the second sharp note.

I was really disappointed with this show--on the whole I did not like the songs chosen--even though I know they were all Lennon and Mccartney songs. My favourite was Brooke with "Let it Be" on the piano-though not one of my favourite Beatle songs. I also liked David with "Eleanor Rigby"-but I wish there had been more ballads--like "I will," "Here there and everywhere" "And I love her". I did not like Amanda at all--could not hear what she was singing. Not sure who will go.

Well we didn't really get to see any more songs tonight, just recaps and the voting. Didn't particularly like some of the song choices of the bits that I did see. :?
I was sorry to see David Hernandez go, I like all three Davids, but my favourite is David Archuleta, and I still like Ramiele. :D :D

The Lennon-McCartney night wasn't great. Please excuse me for this comment, but it illustrates how superior are the songs from George & Ira Gershwin, Rodgers & Hart, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Jerome Kern, Sigmund Romberg, Kurt Weill, Cole Porter, Lerner & Lowe, Johnny Mercer, Jimmy Van Heusen, Leslie Bricusse, Victor Young, and I even have to add Chris Martin and Guy Chambers/Robbie Williams. :)

:?: Why can't they do a night of standards and then everyone will see that these songs stand the test of time!

I always thought I was the only person on earth who didn't like Let It Be, but I see Marian's with me. Never liked it and I never will.

And we have another week of Lennon & McCartney songs. :(

I did like some of the songs performed: I Saw Her Standing There, If I Fell, Come Together, and In My Life, but I didn't care for any of the performances. I hear and prefer the Beatles' recordings. Basically I think these kids are too immature to properly interpret these songs.

I was sad to see David Hernandez leave, but he didn't sing well the last two weeks and was a bit arrogant; his past "dancing" job didn't help him win votes with middle America.

I think with most of the Lennon and Mccartney songs, they only sound right sung by the "Beatles" particularly the upbeat songs-I have some of the Ballads sung by other singers and the sound lovely--for example
"Here There and everywhere"--by our Matt, Johnny Mathis, Emmy Lou Harris--[and I thought that would have been a good choice for Brooke.]
Also "If I fell" by Reba Mcentire, Maura O'Connell, and my most favourite "I will" from Art Garfunkel, Maureen Mcgovern, Diana Ross.

I quite agree with Paul, about the songwriting skills of the others-but nevertheless Lennon amd Mccartney wrote some great songs--just different. I would love to see a night of standards--swing, big band. But whether these singers could do them justice, who knows!! One or 2 might.

Did anyone think that Katherine Mcphee looked the image of Martine Mccutcheon last night--I was really surprised that she was involved in recording with David Foster---she was Ok with "Somewhere"---but again , it is down on my list of least favourite Beatle songs.

I thought that Syesha was going last night-I do not think she sounded good--surprised to see David go.

Yet another week of mediocre Beatles songs performances. David Archuleta was much better the rest. I enjoyed his The Long And Winding Road -- unique but not overdone. I'm pretty sure he's way out front in the voting. Carly was pretty good on Blackbird, but I prefer Lesley Garrett's version. Brooke was not good on Here Comes The Sun. Jason Castro sang Michelle, but all I wanted to hear was Matt Monro's lovely rendition. Most disappointing was Remiele on I Should Have Known Better, perhaps one of my top 5 Beatles songs. No one can sing it like the Beatles.

I'm excited about this years' mentors: Dolly Parton, Mariah Carey, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber (who's always funny), and Neil Diamond. There may be another, but I can't recall right now.

I know Marian will be happy with the decision tonight. Dancing with the Stars was on at the same time, so I'm not sure which she will have watched. :? :?

I have not watched either yet, as I have been out tonight--but I did get to tape them both--luckily with sky plus, 2 programmes can be recorded at the same time-I have just caught up with Corrie, but could not stay up any longer !! I shall catch up tomorrow !!
