Hello Amanda here Graham's wife.

Just thought I would let you know that I'm really enjoying I'd Do Anything.

Our daughters love Oliver the film and we are all hoping to see it once it transfers onto stage Cameron Mackantoish style!

So I've watched the programme with eager anticipation and I think Sarah and Jodie would both make brillaint Nancys. I wonder how long this format can continue and what production they will target next but I like the entertainment value only to see if Johh Barrowman's smile can get any wider!! (and whiter!!)xx

Hi Amanda---I am loving "Oliver" too---I watched that film so many times with my husband, as it was one of his top films--every time I hear Fagin start to sing---
"In this life-one thing counts--in the bank, large amounts" etc etc, I can see George doing his Fagin impression.

I saw the last Cameron Mackintosh revival of Oliver at the London Palladium--when Lionel Bart was still alive--Jonathan Pryce was Fagin--forget who was Nancy--I know I was hoping for it to be Ruthie Henshall, but I think she had left by then. Nevertheless, it was really great.

I thought Francesca singing "Tell me on a Sunday" was just brilliant. But it is hard to choose.

Hi Marian

:D Nice of you to post a reply to me! Wow lucky you seeing Oliver in the West End! Graham went to see it too on his Stag Weekend but it had Jim Dale as Fagin. We are all hoping to come down and see the new production.

t's nice to hear musical songs on the telly I get sick of programmes like X-Factor etc so I always tune in to these sorts of shows. I loved the Connie series. Who are you rooting for?

Our other musical we listen to a lot at the moment is High School Musical as Holly and Cate love it!

The choice of songs seemed better tonight.

I thought Francesca was really good--singing a musical number bought out the best in her, as I had thought.

I also really liked Jessie, and Jodie. I think Tara might go tomorrow.

It was a good idea to give the names of the Olivers, as they were singing--it makes it much easier to relate to them.

Yes, we think Tara could go tomorrow. She tried too hard to reach some unnecessary notes.
We particularly realised tonight what a good voice Ashley has, quite naturally strong and without effort, but that's what makes it such a good programme. Who knows who will finally get the part.

Really nice to have Amanda join us on the forum, and to know that you are enjoying "I'd Do Anything" too.
Hope you'll join us more often.
I couldn't watch the show properly last night as we had visitors, but enjoyed all I did see. I'll stick with my earlier choices for now.
The Olivers all seemed very good. I think they'll have a difficult task to choose the best three. :D :D :D

Keysha definately had the better voice in the sing off, but she just doesn't look like a Nancy to me. I think it's the make-up as much as anything though. Well that's the first of my choices gone.

No, Keysha may not possibly be suitable for Nancy, but as enjoyable as this series is, I agree with what Marian said earlier that comments from the panel on weather they are good enough to play Nancy is cruel and at this early stage of the competition... straight for the jugular comments like that shouldn't be allowed. It's more or less an instant let down after all the hard work and to all their hopes of playing this part and confidence destroying and could also sway the viewers voting.

Hello all

Thought the show was really good on both nights. :P

I think Chester would make a great Oliver - he seems to have the look as well as the voice. I think he will be in the final 3. He is my favourite Oliver - not sure about the Welsh one. Nothing against the Welsh but you can really hear those valley notes coming through when he sings. I agree Marian it helps to see their names.

Graham can't understand why all the judges are pushing Niamh. I'm not keen on her voice. I'm still hoping that Jodie (the Bookies favourite) will win but I'm also very impressed with Sarah and Rachel I hope they all make the final. I think either of those 3 would be good in the role.

I agree what you say about judges comments but I suppose they are getting paid lots of money to help the decision process so they have to be brutal. I think all the girls do well to compose themselves on stage and Cleo's exit on Sunday was extremely gracious. The other lady didn't even shake her hand once the decision had been made I think she should go soon and then I think Tara should go next. See I'm even doing it!!

Great show last night--loved the choice of songs-from films and shows.

I think my favourite was Niamh with "Moon River" followed by Sarah and "Maybe this time"

I think Charlotte may go--I do not think she handled "Somewhere" very well--and she looks much older than 17 !

I really enjoyed the show this week too. I thought some of them were given really difficult slow songs though. I thought Sarah did well this week, she really put a lot of feeling into her song. I still like Rachel and Niamh, and liked Jodie for the first time this week. I can see her as Nancy. I think maybe Tara will go tonight.

I've only just started watching this in earnest, and thought that they there was some great performances lsat night. I particularly enjoyed Sarah, Ashley and Jessie. Jodie looks (and sounds) too much like Jane McDonald for me to take her seriously as a Nancy.

Some great songs last night, nice to hear 'One night only', 'Moon River and Somewhere'. But its difficult to judge someone's Ability to play Nancy based on them singing 'Oh what night (December 1963)', 'Lets here it for the boy' and '(I've had) the time of my life'!

Not sure who'll go tonight - maybe Rachel?

Aww - poor Tara. I think it was the right outcome, she looks too much like a pop singer. More S-Club then Nancy!

The panel and Andrew tie us up in knots sometimes with their conflicting and contradictary comments as to what they are looking for. Also according to last week A.LW said to the Two girls in the sing off..... I do have to judge it and make my decision on this final song.... Well we know, like all of us that he has his own opinions about voices, but surely there was no doubt tonight who sang "Over The Rainbow " the best.
