I listened to 'Only Friends' (from The Rare Monro) quite a bit today on my I-pod, it is a lovely song.
It does seem strange to hear backing vocals on a Matt track, but they really add to the song (panned to the extreme left channel as well :))

Strangely enough Gray, this is the B side to Sarah's Coming Home, which I was listening to about half an hour or so ago.

Can you tell me the year of the record please?
Is it in good nick?
Do you listen to vinyl often?

It was 1972/3 when it was released Gray. I think it is a reasonable copy, but of course it was rereleased on The Rare Monro.I must admit, I don't listen a great lot to the vinyl nowadays. But occasionally I will put an album on. 8)

Marian - really! I must check e-bay more reguarly!

John - Interesting - I do love vinyl. It's a nostalgia thing for me, most of my teen years were spent stood in record stores hunting my way through vinyl tracks. :)

Me too Gray. When I was in my late teens to early twenty's I either used to go to Manchester or Stockport on Saturday's and browse through the old record shops. Many of them have gone now, unfortunately.

Thank Marian, I shall investigate further! :)

John - yes, I can relate to that! :)
Luckily in York we still have quite a few record stores though a couple of the independant ones have gone.

Gray, I used to buy a lot of records from Record Collector magazine, in fact, many of Matt's. :D

John

That's an avenue I never explored, do you still collect now?

I used to have "Record Collector" regularly too, several years back. Used to really look forward to reading it and going through all the lists in every issue. Some really good articles in those days too.

I guess it is still around, but I have not seen it lately. I get most of mine from Ebay or Internet sites.
