PRIDE OF BRITAIN AWARDS

Post by karl » Wed Oct 05, 2011 10:17 pm

I watch this show every year, it's amazing what some people do for others despite their own afflictions - it really is a very humbling experience and makes us thankful we have such people in our midst.

Robert what has your comment got to do with the awards :?: There is nothing flippant about the deeds these people do!

I'm sure Robert was in no way intending to be flippant towards the award winners Karl, just Cheryl Cole! :)

I think Cheryl Cole did get a custard pie in her face-but last year--maybe that is what Robert was thinking of.

Maybe but that has nothing to do with her going out to Afgahanistan to meet the troops, that took a lot of guts!

However the custard pie incident whenever it happened still has nothing to do with Pride Of Britan Awards!

Did anyone other than me watch it, it is one of the most moving and humbling things you will ever see on tv.

Yes, Peter and I watched it Karl, we always do. It is so good to see ordinary people who lead extraordinary lives recognised and honoured in this way. :)

I don't understand what all the fuss is about, and what was flippant about Robert's comment ??? in facI I knew what he was really saying in his posting and it made me laugh...Yes it made me laugh. We know Robert only too well and know that he has a great deal of respect and compassion for the sick and great admiration for those who commit acts of bravery.

Karl, will you please stop getting on your high horse with virtually everyone on here  ........this is usually a very friendly website :!:

My post was just for a laugh, as Cheryl did receive a custard pie in the face in the past AND it was connected to the Pride of Britain awards ...........so put that in your pipe and smoke it

Thank you L&H for summing up my original post perfectly :) .................everyone of here know's I just like a bit of fun with my posts from time to time................after all, life for some people are pretty tough at times.............including the participants in the Pride of Britain awards.

As for getting on my 'high horse' as you put it Robert there are several on here who do including yourself at times.

Lena & Harry were quick to spring to your defence by saying you can show compassion etc; it's a pity you did not show it this week.

By going on the defensive it shows that you know you are in the wrong but will not admit it.

The Pride Of Britain awards makes me proud to be British, if the pie in the face incident happened it was last year and forgotten about, I was commenting on this year and expected you and anyone else to do the same!

As for the closing remark on your second paragraph I expect comments like that from school children , not someone who is a mature adult.

Karl, are you on a different planet to the rest of us ? as I am NOT in the wrong. Only you on this website think I'm in the wrong, I had support from Marian and L&H if you read their posts......................to put it in another point of view.....................Cheryl Cole DID receive a custard pie in the face at last years Pride of Britain awards .............so we are not allowed to mention that on here and have a joke about it (like Cheryl obviously did last year). Cheryl had the custard pie in her face for a laugh even though Pride of Britain is a serious subject , so Karl lighten up and apologise, as it is so obviously you who is in the wrong and everyone knows it, apart from yourself of course ....................oh and by the way Karl I'm only six years old...............but I look older than that

I completely agree with Lena and Harry and Robert here. Why are you causing such a fuss over what is so clearly a joke Karl?
If you watch the link from the award ceremony last year, you will see that one of the award winners, a small boy, wanted to custard pie the face of a celebrity to raise £1000 for this good cause, and Cheryl volunteered.
