I have several Glen Campbell albums and have always liked his songs.
He shares one album with Matt, but I don't have it, yet! :D :D

Glen Campbell has had great songwriters Gray. We have several of his albums. He is still making occasional appearances, and is working on a new Cd with Jimmy Webb.

one of my favourite songs of Glen Campbell [after Dreams of the Everyday Housewife" is a song called "The World I used to know"--a really nice song---not sure who wrote it.

That was written by Rod Mc Kuen Marian.
One of Glens very first best known songs "Gentle On My MinD" wasn't intended for release and was just submitted as a demo, but Capital released it.

Surrey with the Fringe on Top

Post by keithgood838 » Fri Apr 18, 2008 1:37 pm

Hi, Marian, Re the Surrey with the Fringe on Top.
The album I referred to in my Nat & Matt posting
includes a memorably lively performance of the song by Nat,
which builds, in ascending key changes, to a stunning finale.

Hi Marian(a)
There is one song in particular I would have loved
to have heard Matt sing, namely Vino De Amor, with guitar
and violin accompaniment. The song and singer would
have been sublimely matched.

I do not think I know that song--does it have an English title--I guess logically it should be "Wine of Love" or something similar, but that does not ring a bell either.

Andy Williams has made a recording of Vino De Amor. You can hear it on YOU TUBE. Pretty mournful I thought.

Well done, L&H, your are the cavalry charging
to the rescue, yet again.
I'm surprised to hear that you didn't like the Andy
Williams' version. Marian(a), I think it is a Spanish
title meaning, as you say, Wine of Love. I think the
consonant sounds, in particular, would have gone
down like a good vintage presented in Matt's mellow
tones. Cheers!

Here's another one I bought to the top--so come on you new members, let us know what you think.

As many as you like-but only 1 at a time.

Mariana - You brought about another topic....but I wish Matt would have had recorded his version of:

THE WIND BENEATH MY WINGS (First recorded by Roger Whitaker in 1982)...It was late in Matt's career, but I am sure he could have sung it great!

I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(

I would love to hear Matt sing anything from Neil Sedaka--I just love all his songs-and there are lots that would have suited Matt's voice.

Plus some that wouldn't---"I go ape" for example.
