A weekend without Members Lounge :-(

Post by michduncg » Mon Apr 21, 2008 2:08 pm

Hello all

I think we're back online now - its been tricky over the last few days logging in to chat with you all! Anyway, seems to be back to normal now.

Has anyone else noticed how slowly the internet is running these days? I did see something in the paper a few weeks ago that its all to do with TV download services like BBC i-player. People are leaving their PCs on all day and downloading loads of programmes which is slowing down the whole internet! I just went to try and download this weekends 'I do anything', and it said it was going to take 13 hours to do it! Last time I downloaded a tv show was off channel 4 last year and it took about an hour - so things really are slowing down

Yes, it all seems OK now Mike. We've had problems several times during the last month with suddenly coming off line and not being able to get back on. Even phone call advice from AOL the server couldn't resolve it. AOL then informed us that it's a problem in our area.

To be quite honest, I do not know how--I had already tried a number of times--then I tried again---got my posting-in the fun and games section--assumed all was back to normal---then tried to do more postings--completely unable to until this afternoon.

Hi Gray,
When the screen screamed at me 'critical error!'
I thought: 'Hamfisted Good strikes again.' The computer
and I make uneasy bedfellows. By the way, am I the only
member who edits their stuff? I am into the study of English
in a big way, therefore I am pernickety about the presentation
thereof. This Forum is ideal for writing practise, especially
because of its an editing facility. I hope fellow members
will forgive my pedantic propensities.

Your posts are delightful to read Keith. Don't worry as Robert has always been our resident pedant to date  we're used to it

I am often popping into the Forum and changing all the spelling mistakes. That is why I love the edit feature. I am also very pernickety, don't think you are alone Keith
