Urgent Warning

Post by Michele Monro » Fri Nov 18, 2011 9:35 am

Heads up everyone! Christmas is coming and thieves are everywhere. Only last week Matt had his car window smashed in at a gas station by two youths wearing crash helmets BUT driving a BMW. Thankfully the girl's (Matt's Management) who were on the way to the airport to pick us up were not hurt but they definitely suffered from shock for the next few days. They had waited for one to go in and pay leaving the other in the car.

This is a new scam in operation in the lead-up to Christmas

You walk across the car park, unlock your car and get inside. You start the engine put it into Reverse. When you look into the rearview mirror to back out of your space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. So, you stop and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view. When you reach the back of your car, that is when the carjackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off. They practically run you over as they speed off in your car.

And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car. So now the carjacker has your car, your home address, your money, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity are now compromised!

BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.

If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, lock your doors and just drive away. Remove the paper later.
A purse contains all kinds of personal information and identification documents, and you certainly do NOT want this to fall into the wrong hands.

Please tell all your friends

Thanks for the heads up about the latest car scams Michele. We must certainly stay more alert to this kind of thing.
That is a shocking tale about Matt's car, so sorry for Simmi and SaZZa, they must have been really shocked by what happened. Almost unbelievable that such a thing could happen on a garage forecourt. When Matt wrote about it on facebook I assumed he had left his car at the airport and that the damage had happened there.
Hope you are both having a better time now you are both back home. I know the girls are ..in Miami! It seems they are 'spearheading' for Matt's forthcoming concerts.
:D

Hi Michele, so sorry to hear that Matt's car window was smashed, but pleased to know that Matt, and Simmi and Sazza were not harmed physically.
and what are these despicable crooks ( and that's putting it mildly ) going to think of next. We have to be aware of all these scams while on the road but thank you for the warning of this latest one Michele.
We have recently heard warnings of another scam, when these morons suddenly and deliberately stop in front of you forcing you to brake and causing damage enabling them to claim from the insurances, without any thoughts or concern for injuries or loss of life.
