Hi Marian(a)
Surely Tom is synonymous with It's Not Unusual?
I thought your namesake was bound to get that one.
Some singers seemed destined to link up with
certain songs: Judy and The Trolley Song.
Ella and Every Time We Say Goodbye.
Dusty and You Don't Have To Say You Love Me.
Cilla and Anyone Who Had a Heart. Frank and My Way,
although it was written for him by Paul Anka.

I think some singers are associated with several different songs--it is usually a case of picking your favourite song--like this......

Dionne Warwick---"Do you know the way to San Jose"

But that does not mean "Delilah" is my favourite Tom Jones Song--it is just the one I thought of first---and I would not have included "Misty" with Johnny Mathis--more like "Chances Are" for me.

Hi Marian,
I tend to associate Perry Como with Magic Moments.
However, you are right to contend that the pairings
have a lot to do with who gets first crack at a song.
Also thanks for guiding me in the direction of In The Pipeline;
I gleaned much useful knowledge therein including
the fact that Matt Sings, Nelson Swings is now on general
release. When I enquired about it at HMV it wasn't
on their computer. I see your role as that of a kindly
assistant helping old dodderers like me towards all the
goodies available at the Care Home party.

We are also surprised at some of the pairings, and we would also have paired Johnny Mathis with "Misty" and Tom Jones with It's not Unusual" and who else could be paired with Johns choice of "Born Free." only Matt,.. and our particular reason for pairing Sinatra with "Nancy" is that no vocalist other than Sinatra could be paired with that song, recorded in 1944. That recording...in our book... and one of the late Benny Green 's favourite's "I'll Follow My Secret Heart " are true examples of the real Sinatra, the crooner who made the bobbysoxers swoon.
Anyway here's another super pairing Ronnie Hilton and No Other Love.

I know we have already had Perry Como, but "And I Love You So" is up there amongst the top. 8)
