Listening to Dionne Warwick's new CD "Why We Sing" which is a Gospel album. Oh my, how her range has diminished with age and cigarettes.
She is singing in a very low key throughout and doesn't soar anymore like she used to in classics like "How Many Times Can We Say Goodbye?" and "Alfie".

Hi John

For me, Patti Page recorded the definitive version of Old Cape Cod. It was sublime.

Hi Gray

The label is Rhino.

The opening number 'Battle Hymn Of The Republic' is a stunner.
I also like 'Jesus Loves Me'.

You can purchase the CD here :

Hi Gray--I know you do not mean me, but neveretheless I think he is terrific--especially when he is singing "Showsongs".[but not on that particular cd]

I have just bought a new dvd, with John and Ruthie Henshall [who I also think is great] called "Putting it together"--just not had chance to watch it yet, but hope to soon.

We also like John Barrowman. Many other regular musical and show performers who's obvious requirement is to sing with perfect diction for the benefit of the audience, don't always seem to be able to pull it off when it comes to recordings just so overdone.
Surprisingly Barrowman has perfect diction coupled with a good voice and we often play his CDs, a favourite one... John Barrowman Swings Cole Porter
Thanks to Marian

Yes, I enjoyed his CD Gray and I like his voice. This is the first album I've bought of John's, and I only bought it because it was on special offer from Play.com but I will buy more in future I'm sure. :D :D
Marian
P.S. the case was undamaged too!!!

Just listening to the first song on Russell Davies show.. Matt's "One Morning In May."
Russell is wondering when someone other than Matt, Mel Torme, or Al Bowlly will record this song. Why we wonder, when the song has been recorded by Three of the best recording voices anyway.
Incidently Al Bowllys' "One Morning In May" was the first number played on the Dewi Griffiths programme this morning.
