We were out on Tuesday evening and caught up with Desmond's programme and the first song played was Matt's "One Morning In May."
Isn't the "Listen again" feature great to have.

Yes, the song has had some air play this month Robert. There's still a few May days to go yet.

Perhaps we need to send emails to Radio 2 DJs reminding them of the gorgeous When Johanna Loved Me with its closing lyric "and the month was May".

I'm "listening again" to Desmond Carrington now and just heard the Luton Girls Choir singing "I Leave My Heart in an English Garden". Certainly not something I would hear on Radio 1, but I liked their sound. Does this choir still record or perform? It's all very exciting ... I thought Luton only had an airport.

Luton, is in the county of Bedfordshire Paul, remembered for the large Vauxhall Motor factory, but more famously known for hat-making.
The Luton Town football team are known as "The Hatters " for that reason.
The Luton Girls Choir had a beautiful sound so easily recognised and regularly heard on the Radio.
There were very strict rules laid down for girls who wished to be part of this choir.
The age limit was about 22 if I remember correctly and no married girls were considered.
They sang such great songs, those of Ivor Novello, Richard Tauber, and I remember seeing them in a movie with Old Mother Riley, The headmistress of a girls school.
They sang "Count Your Blessings" and "Till All Our Dreams Come True"
Hardly a dry eye in the house.

But are they still recording now, Harry and Lena---I remember them from way back, but have not heard them for ages.

I also remember Old Mother Riley, and her [his] daughter Kitty.

No they disbanded many years ago, although they performed together for around Forty years.
Yes Old Mother Riley and her daughter Kitty. ( Arthur Lucan and Kitty Mc Shane was another regular weekly radio programme.

Thanks for the information on Luton and the Girls Choir. I'll search for the Luton Girls Choir on my next trip to HMV. I love the song Count Your Blessings. My favourite recording is by the Ray Conniff Singers when they sang it in a medley with Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow.
