Not one of mine either but sad altogether
Re: RIP Whitney Houston
Yes sad demise from a model to singing superstar then hit a downward spiral i think she got into drugs through Bobby Brown. What a waste and so young. R.I.P

Re: RIP Whitney Houston
I have also seen this news of Whitney Houston
I think I am correct in thinking that she was related to Dionne Warwicke
Very sad at such a young age.
R.I.P. Whitney Houstom.

Re: RIP Whitney Houston
Whitney was a beautiful woman, I was never a huge fan but I did enjoy her earlier work. I remember seeing her years ago on Terry Wogan's show and she was so natural and sang lines of her songs to Terry, that's how I remember her.
Yes she was releated to Dionne Warwick and Whitney's mother is Cissy Houston another fine singer.
Whitney's downfall was being involved with Bobby Brown, it's tragic but may she rest in peace.

Re: RIP Whitney Houston
The saddest thing is, the person who was supposed to love and protect her, was in the end responsible for her death-although maybe indirectly.
Now he is saying he is devastated--too late !!

Re: RIP Whitney Houston
Brought out all her CDs and played them. Haven't done so for a while now. Loved the ballads, disliked the street songs. Alarmed at how ravaged her voice was on the last album. The title track "I Look To You" was the type of ballad Whitney excelled in but since it was arranged in such a low key, she didn't & couldn't soar. Sad.
Re: RIP Whitney Houston
Tragic news. She made some lovely recordings, and I particularly liked her in the film "The Bodyguard".

Re: RIP Whitney Houston
I disagree with most everyone here. I much prefer her up tempo and R and B songs from the late 90s than the power ballads, with It's Not Right But It's Okay and My Love Is Your Love my favorite songs. I never thought I'd ever like anything by her after she ruined Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You, but those two songs were fantastic and a welcome surprise.
I don't think it's fair to blame Bobby Brown. Another person can't bring someone down. Whitney Houston said in interviews that she herself was her own worst demon. She could have stayed away from drugs, but there was too much stress in her business and she couldn't fight it. Bobby Brown is not the problem. We are responsible for our own actions.
She influenced a whole generation of singers just as Aretha, Diana, Barbra, and Dusty did in the 60s.

I have to agree with I WIll Always Love You, I must have heard it a million times, it got to the stage I was switching off the radio when it came on, however it seems to sound better in The Bodyguard for some reason.
Bobby Brown is not squeaky clean, perhaps Whitney had a weakness there and couldn't fight it, either way a beautiful woman is gone way too soon.

Re: RIP Whitney Houston
I only love Whitney's ballads from her first 2 albums. I agree that I Will Always Love You was overplayed everywhere and she oversang it. I like Dolly Parton's version. It was amazingly simple but effective.
Re: RIP Whitney Houston
I'm sorry but I have to blame Bobby Brown. If Whitney had not met Mr Brown she maybe would never have gotten into the drug scene in the first place.............and, why didn't Mr Brown prevent Whitney from taking "his" drugs........... if he loved her he should have STOPPED her in the FIRST place............IMO he ruined her life
