THE ARTIST

Post by karl » Sun Feb 26, 2012 7:04 pm

Maybe I'm cynical but can anyone explain to me why a silent movie is set to scoop the Oscars?

We have surround-sound in our cinemas now plus all the technical effects, have we gone as far as we can and are now going back?

If so when will I be able to buy a wind up gramophone?

Karl, the beautiful Oscsar winning soundtrack in "surround sound" will be stunning :) .........you do not necessarily need dialogue to enhance the enjoyment of a wonderful film. Silent movies are generally easy to follow  .......... all genres of film can be beautiful be it black and white, colour, talkie or silent.

Robert people do not go to see a movie just for the soundtrack, however the point I made has been totally missed by you.

Let me see if I can see your point Karl...........................I think I can, it is ................ because the film is AWESOME and BEAUTIFUL.

Why does a film have to have dialogue to win the Oscar, a silent movie can be very moving, which The Artist obviously is and the actual soundtrack DID win the Oscar too, which probably means it is good!! .....................why do you have to nit pick all the time often over trivial matters :!: :!:

Well if we're nit picking over trivial matters dear Robert I am not alone there!

Also to get back to the point I was making, I bet they longed for talkies in the silent days but now that we have all these great sound systems they are making silent movies again, that's all I was saying. However I silent movie with a soundtrack? That has to be a first!
