Nice to see Alfie again Marian, but instead of "Bring Him Home" I was hoping he would sing something different this time. :)

I've just watched Alfie Live at the Royal Festival Hall. He sings some nice songs, but I don't think I would enjoyed it so much if I hadn't been there. It worried me the way he held the microphone so close, something he doesn't need to do!
The guests were alright, but a young soprano, Laura Knight, was edited it out altogether and she had a some lovely numbers. They would done better to have edited Mel C who didn't add much to the evening and seem to be singing out of tune.
Anyway, I spotted Peter and myself in the audience so at least we've made it on to DVD!

As you say Marian why does Alfie have to hold the mike to close to his mouth.

In the past I've seen Jack Jones, Dusty, Jackie Trent etc keep the mike well away from their mouths and the sound was fine. I always thought if your voice was powerful you did not need to hold it close, perhaps the new microphones have a built in sensor, I'm sure Richard can help out here?

You don't sound too thrilled with the disc, perhaps I will wait until it's much cheaper in a few months!
