I am about to listen to the new Stacey Kent live album---Stacey does not seem to have many followers on this forum, but I think she is great, I have most of her cds.

Listening to the re-mastered Beatles CD With the Beatles :) ............it brings back memories for me from the release date late 63 early 64, as my mum bought the album from a local record store at the time and the album was played continuously on the formica record player we had :) .............the album cover is iconic too :)

How did you guess Robert-I only heard a couple of tracks, and I was asleep.

Music The Pye Anthology Vol 2 - Petula Clark

John do you have the Anita Harris cd where she sings a lot of Dusty songs with very different arrangements? I think it's called Everyday Valentine, I have it in my collection, also apart from Just Loving You I like Anita singing The Playground.

Listening to Matts Through the Years CD tonight, especially to hear Come Sta :) .............incidentally, there are a few sleeve notes, which were written by Mickie in 1994 :)

I've been listening to Through the Years too. It's the best. I'm not who did the remastering, but this CD sounds so good. The best sounding Maria of all; love the guitars in the interlude.

The weather has been warm, so I've been blasting this wonderful music out my windows, especially when pedestrians are around.

I wanted to play Spring Is Here on March 21 and this was the only compilation I could find it on.

Paul, Spring is Here is track 13 on disc three of the Singers Singer :)

There are some very good songs on Through the Years :) ............. on This is All I Ask Matts vocals at their very best, he sings the song to absolute perfection :D .......Ebb Tide and Roses and Roses are another two outstanding Matt ballads......... Matts voice was at it's peak in the mid sixties, his interpretations of songs at that particular time was immense :D ............and you know how much I like Maria :) ...........and.........I did notice in this recording of Maria I did not hear the "crackle" in Matts voice as he takes a deep breath.......... did you notice it too Paul ?

I think the mastering on the CD was done by Ron Hill, he did a good job too as the songs sound crisp and clear :)

Yes, I saw the name Ron Hill when I was blasting this CD all over Washington. But I've never heard of that name before. He did a brilliant job on this release.

This CD is so good, I even like hearing You Made Me So Very Happy, The Good Life, and My Way, which aren't in my top 50, but I do like them. But the CD has many of my absolute favorites and some of the best recordings Matt Monro has ever made.

I think the CD is so special because Mickie selected these songs and none of the hits are included.

I haven't heard the crackle in Maria. Can you provide the minute and second it occurs? I mostly listen to the instrumentation in this song.

Please recall that I never take The Singer's Singer to the car, so I didn't look for Spring Is Here on there. Maybe I'll buy the reissue to help out HMV the next time I'm in the UK. That collection doesn't include some of my very favorites, so that's why I didn't buy the reissue.

I cannot put my hands on Maria right now, but if you play the version on the Singers Singer and listen carefully, towards the middle or end of the song you will hear the "crackle" when Matt draws breath :)
