Keith, the only interest we have in the rag trade is if we feel the need of a little bit of retail therapy, or more often for some special occasion perhaps.

I cannot decide on my favourite musical--either "Evita" or "Oliver".

I actually do love this kind of quiz. Many years ago, before the advent of the internet, I did a competition on the local paper, which was to make as many words as you can out of "MISTER LOFT LADDER" a local firm, and the prize was-of course a new loft ladder. My friend had already got over 300 words before I started. However, I became hooked on it-I would wake up in the middle of the night, and write down words--I took a notebook with me everywhere I went, and it was not unusual for me to stop in the middle of Sainsburys and add a few more words. Then I scoured the dictionary to see if I had missed any ! Finally I typed them all out, on a database, to make sure that they were in order, and no doubles and all counted correctly--by then my friend was up to 500 words----I had found over 2200 words, and was positive that I had won.

So you can imagine how I felt when the results were published--they said they had lots of entrants--some nearly reaching 1000 words----but there was one entry head and shoulders above the others---and it was some guy, with approx 20 words more than me. I was just furious that my entry had not even been noted, so I wrote them a strong letter, and said that I hoped they had double checked the winners score, and made sure his words were valid and all counted correctly, as it was such a close call---they did not even bother to reply !!!! I am still sore over it .

Hi L&H
Your subtle use of 'retail' made me think that, to add
to the fun, we should compile each member's score
at the end of the game. In which case you may wish
to highlight your last entry. I must say also that all of
your contributions are nicely turned out.
Keith

PS This posting was submitted before I had read
Mariana' s interesting piece about the competition
she entered - pure coincidence, and bad luck, Marian(a).

By the way--if my score is the highest, I want nothing less than a LOFT-LADDER.

I think you will be amazed how many there still are. If I get a chance I will try to do a list of those words already used, to make things clearer.
