What a magical moment when they announced that London had won the Olympic bid, thanks to the enthusiasm in our country and a great commitee.
A marvellous incentive for youngsters to train and great for London too.

Hi all--it was such great news and a terrific atmosphere in London, at the time of that news. Unfortunately it was completely overshadowed by the horrific bombings in London the following day, as I recollect.

I think the Olympics will be good for Britain, and I will certainly be there watching. And won't it be good, not to have to wake up in the middle of the night to see some crucial action.

Hi Mariana44, Val and everyone. Yes the London bombing's did happen the day after our succesful Olympic bid. Wasn't it great to hear "London" instead of Paris.
The good thing about the World Cup being held this time in Germany, is being able to watch those matches at a good time, instead of during the night, or other strange times of the day.
