APRIL 1ST ALED JONES

Who was listening at 6.30 this morning to Aled Jones---he played Matt singing "Beyond the Hill"--I do not remember hearing that on radio before, and thought I was listening to my ipod-then Aled Jones said---"That was my favourite singer in the world--Matt Monro" !!

We were still asleep when Aled's Show was on Marian. We have always liked Aled and he has earned nore Brownie points now.

I can't say I have ever heard this on radio before either. It is nice for them to play something a little lesser known every now and again.

You were an early bird Marian but well done Aled. Yes,I would be surprised if it had ever been on the radio over the recent years.

I have to admit, I did not get up at 6.30--I managed to get back to sleep quite easily !

Beyond The Hill always puts me in mind
of Tennyson's classic poem, Crossing the Bar,
in which the poet compares the ending of a life
to crossing the sandbar beyond the shore
to a new and better world. Being of a religious
turn of mind, I think that is why Matt's version
appeals to Aled Jones. Here are the first and last verses:

well-earned epithet, The Singer's Singer.
It is reassuring to know that our Matt
has found his peace in the fresh green land

I got to the link--but could not watch it--but that could be my comouter--it has been playing up for the last 2 weeks--does anyone know what "revocation Information" means ??

I did get to it, despite the warnings. It said that the site has been known for some "risky behaviour"! Anyway that didn't obviously include our Matt.
