Val Doonican - I'm a Leprechaun record

Post by Eman » Mon Apr 02, 2012 3:30 pm

I heard a song on you tube while doing a search for Val Doonican stuff and there was a cute little song called "I'm A Leprechaun". Are you all familiar with it? Anyway was wanting to know if you all knew what lp or cd the song was on.

I checked the 3 cd's I have by Val and also searched online and can't trace it, it could be something he did for a broadcast.

John may know as he's a fan.

Hi Eman and Karl, this track is on a 7LP box set called "The Many Shades of Val Doonican". I have this set and recently transferred to cd. I can't find the track on any other LP's/cd's.

Karl, I saw it on Val's website and it's a Readers Digest issue. Might have some trouble seeking this one out, but it's on my "to find" list. Funny Val only had two lps here in the US, though I wish he had more. Don't even know if Tony Christie had any here.

It is actually "The Many Moods of Val Doonican" and not shades Eman. My fault, I typed it out wrong. There are 2 box sets of his, the other is called "The Many Worlds of Val Doonican". I have them both. You can buy the Worlds series seperately as they were issued seperately then they made a box of them, but "The Many Moods" you can't buy seperately and after a bit more research I am still unable to find "Leprechaun" (as it is titled on the actual record), on any other record. Don't get it mixed up with "The Jarvey is a Leprechaun", different song. :)

Thanks John and Mariana! I'm already starting the internet search. John the box set is it a gatefold type or a box itself that you remove the top like the classical record sets and does it have liner notes?

I would imagine for a set like that a gatefold would be impossible, I have some LP sets of Cliff and Johnny Mathis and they are in a box - want to buy them Eamon? :)

Karl, gotta downsize on records believe or not. LOL. Though appreciate the offer, I'm good for now on Cliff. Not too keen on Johnny Mathis.

Eman, there are 3 or 4 sets available on Gemm and Musicstack, one is quite reasonably priced at about $26.00, but there will be postage on top of that, which probably won't be cheap as they are from the U.K. By the way, it is box set, not gatefold. :)

John, thanks for the heads up. I'll check them out. I'm sure I won't be the only one who'll play them, my Dad will probably take the set and keep it in his record cabinet. LOL
