Have You Walked Out

Post by karl » Sun Apr 01, 2012 3:38 pm

Have you ever walked out or felt like walking out of any theatre or cinema event?

I have walked out of a few:-

Sheena Easton (what I could hear of her was good but when we got out the auditorium into the foyer the management said "We wondered who would be first out".)

A Motown show with Martha Reeves, Mary Wilson & Edwin Starr - he was excellent but Martha & Mary did too much talking, whether it was scripted or not I don't know.

The Opera L'Gisto - absolutely dreadful.

Michael Ball

I have since seen Michael several times but the first time he had a warm-up of two "comedians" if they can be called that, they were absolutely disgusting and several of the audience walked out including me and we were refunded personally by the theatre manager. They were so bad I actually shouted at them to get off the stage and bring Michael Ball on, I was amazed at myself for doing it but the audience actually applauded me, they quickly exited the stage after that but I'd had enough as had some others.

Death In Venice

The film with Dirk Bogarde, I didn't walk out as I kept thinking it'll get better, suffice to say I've spent a better time with toothache!!!

I can remember a comedian backing up Johnny Mathis one year--I forget his name just now---but it contained the word "slither" and he kept saying that word---it was awful. Several of us walked out, and did not stay to listen to him for any of the other concerts. In fact, the reaction to him was so bad, that when the concerts came to London, he was replaced by an unknown comedian called-------Michael Barrymore--and believe me he was very very funny then, --he made my friend Julie leave the theatre one night, because he saw her camera ! It was hysterical.

The Sugarcubes!!! Gosh I thought they were so awful on record it was likeable, but live was a different story..Bjork must have been auto tuned because when she sings in person it's like a wailing dying cow.. (No offense to her fans)

Marian I remember that comedian I didn't like him either. I often wonder who chooses the arm up acts. However I have to say the warm up's for Gene Pitney & Status Quo were excellent.

We had a similar comedian on one of Jack Jones tours. On other concerts, we just went on when Jack came on. Lucky for us Jack now does the full show himself, with no support acts. :D

Robert, and to think that Helen Mirren ("Our Queen") was in this film!!

I walked out half way thru the mostly acclaimed movie "The Tree of Life" - - very confusing to me!

Robert

I couldn't walk out of Caligula because I was playing the DVD that I bought. Well, I was curious to see if it deserved all the bad reviews.
