Robert, is that the new one?

Listening to Bucks Fizz - The Writing On The Wall (2012 edition) that my Grandfather/Uncle sent in my Easter package along with some chocolates and Series six of Law and Order UK. Excited to hear that the former members of Bucks Fizz (Jay, Cheryl and Mike)will now be known as OBF, while Bobby G, retains the right to the name "Bucks FIzz". I think OBE will be more successful and I'm looking forward to their new album in the summer!!

Finally playing Matt's bookazine cd The Man Behind The Voice, it was in a cupboard and I kind of forgot about it. Really enjoying it, even Yesterday which is not my favourite song (it was done to death) but Matt's arrangement is nice.

Mike, I think David Van Day's version just (pardon the pun) fizzed out. Bobby G one of the original members retains the rights to the name and won the court case, but Cheryl, Jay and Mike are now known as OBF and have a new cd coming out.

Listening to the Hollies "Evolution" the American version which is abridged from the British original.

Karl, is it the American version or the UK. The UK one has some killer tracks minus "Carrie Anne". Did you know the song "Carrie Anne" was really about Marianne Faithful? When I was a kid my Grandfather would make me sit in his lap and sing "Ye Olde Toffee Shoppe"  . I also love their album "Butterfly" but over here it was called "Dear Eloise/King Midas In Reverse"..again abridged and some different tracks.

I think the Marriane Faithful story is a myth

Tony Hicks tells the story that when he started writing this song as he had the words 'Hey Mister Man' in his head - this was around the time that The Byrds were charting with their cover Mr Tambourine Man.
According to Hicks, Carrie Anne was the nearest girls name they could find to Mister Man.

Allan Clarke added the middle 8. (who apparently did go to school with a girl called Carrie Anne!)

Cliff Richard recorded a song called Marianne, that probably had nothing to do with Miss Faithful either!

Great isn't it when even the writers of a song can't even remember!

Richard you'd be amazed what writers and performers don't remember. Just a few years ago I sent footage to Vince Hill of some tv shows he appeared on, one in particular he had no recollecion of.
