Des O'Connors 80th Birthday Show

Post by karl » Wed Apr 11, 2012 1:42 pm

I watched this last night having recorded it at the weekend.

Did anyone else watch it and if so what did you think?

I always used to watch Des' show and he had the creaml of the crop as guest stars when hsi show ran for an hour but for a 90 minute show we had no huge stars and he only sang parts of a few songs, I felt rather disappointed.

My first ever trip to London years ago I wanted to go to the London Palladium and I didn't care who was on - it was Des and he was absolutely great as was the rest of the show.

He looks great for 80 though, so if 60 is the new 40 then 80 must be the new 60?

We were in the audience when Jack Jones was a guest on one of Des's Shows Karl. Great show, but we thought Des spent rather too much laughing on the settee!
We saw the television programme and felt like you Karl, a little disappointed.

Marian that's how I felt. I used to wonder why Des never sang over the years on his show, I thought his singing voice was very pleasant.

The show with JJ you saw, was that when he had his hand strapped up and he kept falling down when they got to a certain line in the song? My mum laughed and laughed at that, she liked Jack.

We watched it on Saturday night and thought it was a bit of a let down. Not the kind of show we normally get for a celebrity who has been in the business as long as Des, but it was Saturday night and considering the crap of late we had to be grateful
The best part of the show was Robert Lindsy. :)

Yes, that's the one Karl. Jack cut his hand when he was doing some D.I.Y!
