I've had my eye on a Don Cornell cd for sometime.

Robert, I know what you mean about Peggy Lee not being an exciting singer, she did not have a great range but she made a lot of good records and was very pleasant to listen to. One of my favourite is I Don't Want To Play In Your Yard.

I have heard Peggy sing that song--but I do not like it.

I prefer her singing "Fever" or "Till there was you"--or "The Lady is a ttramp".

Karl, the best Don Cornell CD is a 2-Box set called "Something to Remember Me By" On Iris Records (His wife's Co.)
The other 2-CD on the Iris Label is "I'll Be Seeing You" but they are only available on E-Bay or - http://www.doncornell.com
Jasmine Records released a 2-CD set in 2007 titled "Most of All" which is very good & costs less than the two above.
The Jasmine release contains "Stranger in Paradise" which was recorded in England & only available on this CD!!
He was a friend of mine and we went on a couple of Caribbean Cruises with his wife & him...a very nice guy!

Another song for Matt---"I HAVE BUT ONE HEART"

I'd love to have heard Matt cover "The Special Years" by Val Doonican or "Stranger on the Shore"

I noticed that several of you would have liked to have heard Matt sing 'The Folks Who Live On The Hill'

Well, you'll be able to soon........

IT'S MAGIC (I have heard Matt sing this on a TV show, so maybe it will be on "The Rarer Monro")

Yes Matt did sing "It's Magic" on a TV show in 1966.- The Buddy Bregman produced 'A funny thing happened on the way to the piano - A tribute to Jule Styne' made by Rediffusion.

The problem is that Rediffusion lost it's licence in 1967 and the vast majority of it's archive (Including a whole series and at least 15 other early tv shows by Matt) was simply put in skips and dumped.

We do have a pretty poor off air recording which is beyond current restoration help so won't be on Rarer i'm afraid. On the May update I HOPE to be able to put you out of your misery in regards to the full track list but EMI are still struggling through legal clearences as we speak (one of the perils of licencing material from other companies!) so I don't know exactly when the full list will be confirmed yet.

Matt was at one point sent a demo of 'It's Impossible' in Spanish to consider recording (the disc is in the estate archives) but never actually recorded it. I can hear him singing it in my head though (in english of course)!

Too bad Matt didn't record "It's Impossible" as it would have been just perfect for him, as would many of
Perry Como ballads. Matt should have had a CD titled "My Salute to Perry Como"--It would have been great!
In his early years, I think Matt sang two past hits by Como..."Without a Song" & "Wanted".

Matt certainly sang 'Without A Song' - a partial radio recording survives I don't know about 'Wanted', but Matt was a big fan of Perry Como that is certain.

Watch out for Como's 'I Know' sung by Matt on Matt Uncovered - The Rarer Monro
