Englebert's back!
Re: Englebert's back!
After viewing the Englebert video, I sorta liked the song, but I can't help but fantasize how Matt would sound if he lived to be 75.!! I am sure Matt would still be able to sing a more competitive song either slow or swing! But Good Luck to the Englebert & the UK....

Re: Englebert's back!
After reading the negative comments, I clicked on the video to hear the song and actually quite liked it. Engelbert is still in pretty good voice for his age and his voice can still soar when necessary. Is it only the catchy ditties like "Congratulations" and "Puppet On A String" that win the contest?
Re: Englebert's back!
Ah but Congratulations did not win Terence!

Well, Julian Ovenden ... stage, television, actor and singer sang "The Last Waltz" on the Alan Titchmarsh show earlier this week, and if anyone else saw it, and it doesn't restore your faith in Engelbert, then nothing will
This Julian Ovenden version is on youtube with Two other songs.

Re: Englebert's back!
Engelbert deserved a much better song, he's recorded so much better in the pas.
Oh, Matt and Born Free just came on the radio!

Re: Englebert's back!
Engelbert is certainly getting lots of plays as it just came on after Matt, do they usually play the Eurovision entry so much before the event? I can't remember if they did that back in the "glory" days.
Still don't like that top note though!!!!

Re: Englebert's back!
From what I remember they always gave the Euro song an airiing on the radio before the event.
Yes, Engelberts entry. That final top note can work as a fitting crescendo to a number of songs, but it just doesn't work in this case.

I don't mean the top note at the end but during the song, it just doesn't sound right to me!
Re: Englebert's back!
I have been hearing more and more of this song-including this morning with Terry Wogan--and the more I hear it, the more I like it---it may even be in with a chance if it gets plenty of exposure in Europe.

I've heard it several times too Marian and I still don't care for it, I think it's a very awkward song and doesn't seem to flow. He'#s made so many good records in the past but this isn't one of them!
Has anyone ever heard him sing The Dave Clark 5's "Everybody Knows"? It's really good and it's on one of his earlier albums.

Yes Karl we've heard Englebert's version of Everybody Knows, and very good it is too.

Re: Englebert's back!
He did excellent live performances over the weekend on Graham Norton and The National Lottery Draw.
Good luck Engelbert
