The Book!!!

Post by Michele Monro » Mon Mar 03, 2008 11:21 pm

I would like to thank Sue & Mike Parker, who drove all the way from Wetherby to London to deposit a suitcase (yes a suitcase) of press cuttings which Sue has accumulated over the years.

Even though I have thousands of newspaper articles myself they have proved invaluable in helping me in the research for the book. Thank you so much for your continued support in helping me put together, what I hope will be, the definitive book on Matt Monro's life and music.

A lot of people have thought their stories either uninteresting or not important where in fact it has filled in that missing detail.

I hope you can join with me in wishing Sue the best of health as she is under the weather at the moment.

Lots of thoughts and prayers are winging their way to you both.
Much love
Michele

Well done to you both, Sue and Mike for delivering those cuttings that have obviously been treasured by you over the years.
We are really looking forward to the book that will no doubt have so much information and lots of memories to share.
Hope you will soon be feeling much better Sue. :) :)

I salute Sue and Mark's dedication for driving all the way from Wetherby to London. I hope there was no traffic jam on the A1 road. I know the book will be more quintessential Matt Monro with their suitcase of press cuttings.

Can't wait Michele!

Hi Marian,
I liked your suggestion for the book title.
It was the best of the bunch appearing on
another page, which I cannot now re-locate;
there is so much good stuff on this Forum.
I have given the matter some thought and these
are the best I can come up with:

MATT MONRO
A Portrait In Words

MATT MONRO
This Was The Life

MATT MONRO
A Portrait of my Dad

Where is one's Muse when one really needs her?

Dean Martin's daughter, Deana, appeared on BBC Breakfast
t.v. this morning to publicise her biography of her dad,
the inimitable singer. (Actually, Matt did a believable,
humorous impression of him, now I come to think of it.)
She came across as having inherited Dean's effervescent
qualities and is a singer in her own right. We can look forward
to Michele's publicity appearances when her much-anticipated
biography of Matt's life is published.

:) Very pleased to read that the book will be entitled The Singer's Singer.

The Floodlights title wasn't connecting with me.
