R.I.P. Robin Gibb

Post by Eman » Mon May 21, 2012 12:02 am

After a long battle with cancer and recovery from his coma, Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees has died today. He was only 62 years old. I'm really saddened to hear this, first with Davy Jones, then dick Clark, the other day it was Donna Summer and now Robin Gibb. I feel as though the icons of my youth are slowly passing. RIP Robin, thank you for all the enjoyable music during my childhood, teenage years and up to the present. You will be missed.

RIP Robin Gibb, another icon gone too soon :( :( ............Robin's first "lead" role was on the beautiful #1 single "Massachusetts" ............which incidentally was the second song to be played when Radio 1 started in 1967 :) ...........the
first being The Move with "Flowers In the Rain" :) ................here is "Massachusetts"

This is such sad news although it hasn't come as a complete surprise.
Robin fought a courageos battle with cancer and we even thought he would pull through yet again. Robin Gibb was not just a brilliant singer and musician with his group, but a very humble and giving person who was one of the people who were instrumental in and strived to have a memorial erected for the RAF Bomber Command heroes who lost their lives in WW11. This is to be at the Piccadilly entrance to Green Park here in London.
The Bee Gees had a unique sound of their own and will long be remembered.

Robin fought long and hard but I suppose it was inevitable, doesn't make it any less of a shock though to hear such news first thing in the morning.

The Gibb Brothers made wonderful music and I was fortunate enough to see them in concert some years ago and they were brilliant!

R.I.P. Robin and thank you for the music.

I was really sorry to hear this news this morning--after he woke up from his coma, i thought there may heve been a glimmer of hope, but not to be. Many of us have grown up with his music--and the Bee ~Gees singing "Massachussets" was one of George's favourite tracks.

So Barry is the only Gibb brother left, after losing , first Andy, then Maurice and now Robin. But what a wonderful legacy they have left the world with their prolific music.

I agree with everybody about the sad passing of Robin! I wonder if the Manx Goverment will honour his/their legacy in anyway?

Yeah the radio stations here are doing a tribute to the Bee Gees/Donna Summer this Memorial Day weekend beginning this Friday. Funny how years ago there was a backlash against anything Bee Gees/Donna Summer or disco related.

I was fortunate enough to see the Bee Gees live in Los Angeles and Andy Gibb came on as a guest. My Dad let me off school in the Phillippines just to fly out to see the concert back in 1979! I was gone for about a week and a half.
