BOOKS

Post by karl » Sun May 27, 2012 12:40 pm

At the moment I am reading Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, it's the true story of Louis Zamperinii and how he survived as a POW in the second world war.

I thought it would be rather hard going but I find I can't put it down, and what's even more amazing I did a google search and he is still alive, after all he came through! A superman in the true sense of the word!

I have not heard of the book , the author or the subject-but i will check it out.
I do love reading--but I have a bad habit of rereading books that i have read many times before, and I rarely try new authors.

I like trying new authors but I still like my favourites, John Grisham, David Baldacci, kind of went off Dean Koontz after reading just about everything he wrote - one in particular was hardly like his style at all!

I'm reading the Derek Tangye books again. I just love the stories of his, with his wife Jeannie and their animals, in their flower farm in Cornwall. Easy reading. :D

I think you mean Derek Tangye, Marian--George and I had all the books, and we read them all many times. I was so sad when Jeannie died--and a few years later Derek died. I saved the 2 sets of cuttings that were in the Daily Mail at the time--but not sure where they are now.

Did you ever read any of Jeannie's novels, she wrote a few--all set in Hotels. I did not find them so appealling, I have to say.

That's right Marian, I've corrected his name now.
I have one book of Jeannie's set in the Savoy, where she had a top job. I must admit I didn't finish it though. There is a website about Minack which has been kept as a nature reserve, which the Tangye's wanted.
