JOHNNY MATHIS
Re: JOHNNY MATHIS
Ok Karl--I know that me and a few hundred other Mathis fans would love to know where that is.

Re: JOHNNY MATHIS
Marian I was thinking more of this song today and I fear I may have been thinking about Jack Jones version! However, you never know as I have a lot of Mathis albums from the States as well as the UK.
Re: JOHNNY MATHIS
Hi Mariana: The S.O.U.L. cd series are either re-recorded versions or live versions. They are put out on a budget label and they aren't very good. I bought one before by an artist named Teddy Pendergrass and another one by The Delfonics and it was just horrid. They used later recordings or as it states in the fine tiny print "re-recorded with one or two of the original members of the group". (Also thanks for the virtual hug, and here's one back).

Re: JOHNNY MATHIS
Hi Eman-I did not buy the s,o,u.l. disc, as it had nothing new on it, and all the tracks I had many times over
Gone are the days when I would buy the same LP 6 times, because each one had a different front cover [in this case "Warm" by JM]

Re: JOHNNY MATHIS
Yep Mariana, I hear you, on buying the same albums with different pictures and then the tracks are in a different order with one new one thrown in. Thus it seems that practice is going on today, with the regular and deluxe editions which would include bonus tracks or remixes. I would just want one version out and that's it just like the old days
Re: JOHNNY MATHIS
I have just heard that Johnny Mathis is cancelling all his concerts between now and the end of October, as he is having a right hip replacement. He actually had this done previously on the same leg, but it needs toi be done again. I know several of my friends have booked to go and see concerts in the coming months.

Re: JOHNNY MATHIS
What a shame Marian.Let us hope that it works this time and that your friends get to see him again at a later date.
Re: JOHNNY MATHIS
Sandra, something like this happened to my friends and I a few years back-we had booked to go to Westbury New York for concerts in September, and we were phoning reguarly to see when tickets woiuld be available-this was before the days on the WWW, but then we found out by accident really, that the concerts had moved back a month, and were now in October. By then we had our hotel in Westbury booked, an apartment in New York for a week--all air tickets, booked 2 weeks off work !! After much discussion we went ahead , rather than losing a lot of money, changed our apartment in New York for 2 weeks--and we spent the whole holiday in New York--which was great--but not what we had wanted. This sort of thing does happen, and it is difficult to know whether to go ahead and book everything, or wait till you have your concert tickets booked--even then you cannot guarantee it-I had a friend who went for concerts around Christmas time, and it was not until she was in US that she found out that the concerts were csanceled.

Re: JOHNNY MATHIS
That's worse than ever Marian.
Did he ever know what it cost you,not only in time and money but disappointment too?

Re: JOHNNY MATHIS
It is very disappointing when you travel a great distance only to find the show is cancelled - however these things happen.
I saw Diana Ross years ago, then she was due to appear years later at another theatre in Edinburgh but it was cancelled as she was arriving in the UK four days after the concert in Edinburgh - some silly bugger really got their wires crossed when arranging that tour!!!!

Re: JOHNNY MATHIS
Awww Mariana, that's such a shame. I'd be gutted because of the time and effort made to see the performer. Then again it's understandable if it's something medical or family related. Some artists just cancel for the sake of cancelling.
Re: JOHNNY MATHIS
I have just heard that John is recovering well from his operation, and is due back home today.

Re: JOHNNY MATHIS
I see the forthcoming Johnny Mathis Mercury album releases are retailing at £22.61 and £20.75 respectively on Amazon; available from 4 September: quite pricey really.
Re: JOHNNY MATHIS
They have reduced in price, as they were £29.99 a week or so ago. I ordered mine from Play.com at £13.99 including pp--still quite expensive, but they are imports.
