Edith McArthur

Post by karl » Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:23 pm

I drove up to my local mall this afternoon, as I was leaving the car park a lady was crossing over to her car so I stopped, she then changed her mind and walked by my car.

I opened the window and asked "Are You Edith McArthur" and she laughed and said "Yes I Am Actually". Incase you don't know her she is an actress and played the lady laird in the soap "High Road" formerly "Take The High Road".

I have met her several times, she used to sign on in the jobcentre I worked in and I would interview her, she's a lovely elegant lady but not a snob. I reminded her she apologised once for being late, she could not find her car keys - they had slid off a tablel and landed in a welly boot underneath, she was amazed I remembered that.

I also asked her if she was still acting but she said she had retired and that she's 86 - she does not miss it at all and no longer has to learn her lines. I also said I last saw her in a play at the Lyceum theatre and she told me they still invite her to first nights.

I wished her well and she did likewise, I feel really glad to have seen her again.

I used to watch Take The High Road occasionally, many years ago, and I remember her Karl. Nice to know she is doing well. :)

I never watched "take the high road", but my 2 friends did, and when we were away, they were constantly talking about it.

Nice to hear that Edith is well, and thriving !
