Enjoyed the clips Lindy--nice voice from Don Richards--wonder why he was not more well known.

Some really great songs from that musical--however, I think the film was badly miscast, which is maybe why it did not do so well as it should have done. I usually enjoy Petula Clark, but her accent sounded all wrong to me--same as Fred Astaire. It would have been much better if they had used their normal voices.

From the reviews I have read, Ricky Martin does a good job as Che, unlikely as it may seem.

I saw "Evita" live in London--many years ago--Elaine Paige had left, and her role was taken over by Stephanie Laurence. who invited a group of my friends and me to go to a matinee [long story !!], and have tea and biscuits back stage with her, in her dressing room ! She was so lovely, still in her "death" make-up, but she chatted to us all, and had photos taken with us--it was surprising how big her dressing room was, as there was quite a crowd of us--but quite an experience !!

Thanks for sharing, that sounds like it must have been a thrilling experience with "Evita".

And I agree with you about the accents. We've had many similar cases with American actors not being able to do English, Scottish, Irish accents (Renee Zellweiger as Beatrix Potter, for example, was a great disappointment to me. That role should have gone to an English actress!). If the accent isn't working, they shouldn't use it.
And yet the great English actors like Jeremy Northam and Michael Caine have no trouble at all with various American accents. American accents are easier to imitate, it seems.

Carole King - Tapestry - Ode 1970

Henry/Lindy: I listened to "Bing With A Beat" and it's just as you described Henry, although the condition of the lp wasn't that great as I expected, it would skip or stick in certain places, I decided to put in a order on Amazon for my Dad. The surface noise alone was pretty bad but then again that record was bought I believe in 1960 and I guess it survived so many moves around the world.

Yes, it was very sad about Stephanie--she was such a lovely person--I just have 1 cd of hers-an Andrew LLoyd Webber compilation. I did not know that she had made any dvd's.

Of course you are so correct about Carole King's "Tapestry", Eman. Thanks for reminding me about that precious one that I wore out with much love. So "Bing with a Beat" is worth going out of pocket for, is it? I need a Bing "fix" often, and I confess to relying on the generosity of Youtube friends who provide plenty of Bing. Just last night I found Bing's "How are things in Glocca Morra"? and it's lovely. Gotta save my sheckles for Matt! I think I am going to order the original 1947 "Finian's Rainbow" Broadway CD though, now that I know it's been remastered. It's so dear.

Lindy, yeah I shelled out for the cd because it was for my Dad!! Sometimes I just do these things just because, like if I go to a farmers market I may come home with some flowers for my Mom or buy some fresh fruit and veggies.

Tapestry is a great album and I love it dearly. I remember the other two albums I got when Tapestry was bought for me back in 1971, the same day I got "Mud Slide Slim and The Blue Horizon" by James Taylor and "Carpenters (the envelope album) " by the Carpenters. This was all for getting a good report card and my parents rewarded me.

Talking of "Tapestry"---did anyone ever buy the "Tapestry revisited" album--which was all the songs from "Tapestry", but sung by different singers.

I bought it, but not sure where it is now. Quite honestly it was not as good as the original "Tapestry"--how could it be ??
