I agree Karl-there is still such a lot ofback catalogue out there---not the very old stuff, but I guess going back to the 70's and 80's.

Well, well, well, another turn around in the Johnny Mathis re-release saga: I've now received another email from Amazon saying the CDs have been DISPATCHED to me, with an estimated delivery date of next Wednesday (19 September), and they have taken the money from my credit card. Seems the albums weren't for October release after all, then. And maybe I'll be the first to get them!

Hi Eman

"You Light Up My Life" IS on cd, or at least it was (I have it). But maybe it's been deleted since. I personally would like his earlier albums from the 70s to be released on CD.

Jon I just checked my Mathis cd's and I don't have that title on cd but I do have the LP as it ihas a red background doesn't it?

It's not like me to miss a Mathis cd release, was it a UK release or import?

Hi Jon, just saw on Amazon it's not available and used copies are pretty expensive. I'll probably just record the lp on to a cd so I can listen to it in the car

Karl, it has the title against a red backdrop but the photo is Johnny leaning back in a chair.

Can't say I remember "Mathis Is". I liked the duet album he did with Deniece Williams "That's What Friends Are For". I believe it was a wise move for him to team up with her to bring him to a much younger audience, and it worked!!

"MATHIS IS" is a collection of songs, by Thom Bell and Linda Creed--similar to "I'm coming home"---but it was nowhere near as popular, mainly because the songs are not as good.

THE HEART OF A WOMAN is one of my favourite LPs , and I am mystified as to why it has never been released on cd.

Marian I am mystified that hardly any of John's back catalogue has been released on cd given how popular he is.

Well, there is quite a lot now of his back catalogue on cd--it is just some of those from a particular period in time--not the older ones--what I would call the "Middle Years"--but there are quite a few of them.
