Or--if anyone in the family is a craftswoman, you could maybe get a photo from their wedding and get it made into a cross stitch chart--there are some really good firms about who do that these days-then it can become a stitched photo of their wedding--this is a long term project though.

Or between you all, design a cross stitch sampler with pictures of important things to them, and their names and dates--and get someone in the family to stitch it--another long term project.

Or you could buy or copy a photo /picture of a place that has a special meaning to them and get it beautifully mounted and framed.

Or you could buy a Kindle and download some of their favorite books to read on it.,

Or an ipod/mp3 player filled with their favourite music.

Wow Marian all great ideas. You know I may go with the one of the memories and then have my siblings film a video of themselves using their phones or what have you and then compile it onto a dvd along with the letters in an album. I'll let you know what I come up with.

I don't think we have that adopt a pet thing here, when you say adopt a pet it means to physically adopt one

Hi Mariana, Marian, Robert and Karl, thank you for all the wonderful suggestions for a gift for my Mum and Dad. I did however agree to go in on a joint gift with my two nephews and two nieces (ages two 17,16, and 12) since they were strapped on cash. I agreed to get one of those picture frame things that changes pictures that are uploaded to it and can play music. Yep I paid for it, but the kids are in charge of putting the pictures to it, putting the music (and yes I said it has to be Grandpa and Grandma's music) wrapping the gift and at least getting or making a card. So we've yet to see what they will say. I don't know what my other siblings will come up with, but when the kids called me, how could I refuse.

That sounds perfect Eman---memories amd music combined. I am sure it will work out fine--children these days seem to be born knowing how to do everything on a computer--you never see them checking out with any instructions or manuals. !

I have something similar, but it only shows photos.
