I've an idea that Patti Boulaye sang a song called "Memories Don't Leave Like People Do", which was also recorded by J Mathis. I believe she also flirted with the idea of being a Conservative candidate for Parliament once.

I do remember Patti Boulaye and can see her face clearly--however her voice did not leave much of an impression on me.

Listening to the Carpenters now, the "Horizon" album, my second favourite. Great tracks on here including "Solitaire" and "Only Yesterday" plus a couple of lovely lesser known songs including "I'm Caught Between Goodbye And I Love You" and "Love Me For What I Am".

Someone mentioned Floella Benjamin. I met her once, when I worked in a reference library and she came in to ask for children's books; she was very nice and friendly. She was recently on TV playing a part in The Sarah Jane Adventures, the Doctor Who spin-off.

I have just purchased another copy of "These years/The late, late show"
My first copy had been played so many times that I wore it out.
It is nice to listen to the tracks without the CD sticking during the songs.

Strangely enough Jon, there was a small article in the paper yesterday about her, saying something on the lines children's television isn't what it used to be. I didn't read the full story, I just saw her name and thought it was a coincidence we were just discussing her.

Floella Benjamin said that today's children's TV is far too vulgar and explicit for children to watch, and she warned mothers not to let them have TVs in their bedrooms.................so that young kid's shouldn't be able to watch TV without supervision

We have mentioned Ray Moore elsewhere on this forum--particularly concerning "For all we know" the version by Ray Conniff, which was the favourite of Ray, although Matt gives a great version too--in fact it is one of those songs that I have never heard a bad version of.

Yes I agree, Ray Moore is much missed to this day, from the radio.

I had never heard Ray Conniff's version of "For All We Know" before you kindly sent it me Marian, it is a kind of up-tempo version isn't it, and it is really good.
