DAVID JACOBS
Re: DAVID JACOBS
Yes L&H, David probably just sounds rather weak at the moment ..............listening to the show now on listen again

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Re: DAVID JACOBS
After David played Bing Crosby he said "with the Pete King orchestra" ............I think he meant the Pete Moore orchestra instead

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Re: DAVID JACOBS
I missed the first half hour, so was not reallky sure if it was a new programme or not--plus I was asleep in no time, so missed most of it-I will try and "listen again " if I get time.

Re: DAVID JACOBS
Listening to Desmond Carrington this evening. He spoke about David Jacobs and said how nice it was to hear him again on his Sunday night spot after his illness and played, I Love You Samantha ...David's signature song that introduces his programme. Desmond and David are long standing friends from their BBC years.
Re: DAVID JACOBS

Re: DAVID JACOBS
Nice to hear a song from Matt on Davids second week back.

Re: DAVID JACOBS
Do you know what George would do, when he did not want to miss anything--he would say "I'm going to sit on a spike"--well he did not literally do that--but he would bring a dining chair over and sit on that hoping that would keep him awake.
Unfortunately, on one occasion , he still fell asleep, fell off the chair, nearly knocked the tv over, sent the dvd player flying--but also knocked himself out on the corner of the stone fire-place--I was in bed at the time, and the first I knew was when he woke me some time later, with blood dripping down his face, saying he had just phoned an ambulance ! So we arrived in A& E about 2.00 in the morning, to be told they were really busy and we would have to wait--after waiting 3 hours, somone evetually walked through, and I asked how long before we would be ssen---"Oh dear--we forgot about you " was the answer. Eventually George got a few stitches in his wound, and we got back home about 7.00.
That is why I am always tucked up in bed when I listen to David Jacobs--so that I do not knock myself out !!!

Re: DAVID JACOBS
'Sitting on a spike' didn't do poor George any good then Marian, and he must have missed his programme too!
Re: DAVID JACOBS
Well, I can tell you that he did not do that again--he sat on the sofa, so if he fell asleep, at least he had a soft landing !

Re: DAVID JACOBS
In our latest issue of " In Tune" editor Gerry who lives in Eastbourne mentioned that at a recent afternoon Matinee concert, the music was provided by the superb Len Philips Band and the real bonus was the welcome appearance of the irreplaceable David Jacobs who hosted the show with his inimitable blend of anecdotes and information laced with good humour and mild risque wit.
So it's good to know that David is back to doing what he is used to doing and enjoying it and obviously keeping well too.
Gerry also gave a special mention of Matt Ford who he said had always been a good singer but has further graduated to the very highest rank and in terms of presentation and stagecraft he really is the complete performer.
He sang Bobby Darin's number "Artificial Flowers " and nearly brought the house down. All good news

Re: DAVID JACOBS
We'll be listening Sandra.
Also for Three Wednesday evenings at 10'oclock PM Barbara Windsor is doing programmes on Ladies of song. Last Wednesday was Alma Cogan. Really interesting and David talks about Alma on the programme. He has always played her songs on his programmes but he and Alma also share the same Birthday on the 19th of May.
Can be heard of course on the "Listen Again" up to next Wednesday, when it will be Kathy Kirby.
