Here is my question again:

I succeeded to the throne just two months after my mother died, and she died two months before the previous monarch, whom she would have succeeded. Which British king am I?

Was it Henry VI ?? (Just a guess....) If I'm wrong, how about giving the year of his coronation as a hint?

The answer is George I. His mother was the Electress Sophia of Hanover, whose mother in turn was Elizabeth of Bohemia, the so-called "Winter Queen", the daughter of James I of England/VI of Scotland, making George (the first Hanoverian monarch of Britain and German-speaking) a great-grandson of the Scottish James. Sophia died just two weeks before Queen Anne, the last Stuart monarch of Britain, whom she would have succeeded if she'd lived a little longer.

Yes, we had them here too Henry, but they were generally considered for the well heeled and not so much for the average smoker.
It was coughing nails like Weights or Woodbines, although I graduated and later smoked Benson & Hedges, since 1980 I have become one of those irritating reformed smokers.

Q. WHEN AND HOW DID "SOAP OPERA" GET THIS NAME. ?

A. Not sure when, but I think it was because soap used to be advertised in ad breaks in America.

I have a feeling it may have been shortly after the war, as the subject came up in a book I was reading.

You are correct Marian. Soap Opera did get this term from American Radio in the Thirties. A company named Proctor & Gamble dealing with beauty and Household products were a leading company at that time, and did most of the advertising.
The first British TV soap opera was The Appleyards from 1952 until 1957.
