We are also grateful to John and feel lucky to be able to remember some of those talented singers. They had the advantage of the best songwriters and arrangers too.
There are a few good singers around today who can sing those classic numbers ( we've heard them, ) but ideas of good songs today and the way they are sung have changed.
Robert, pleased you liked the dvd, it was quite a while ago since I sent that to you. Also grateful to you Lena and Harry for all you have sent me, especially the singers I had never listened to before and now am such a big fan of, examples Jerry Vale and Jimmy Roselli.
There is no doubt that we have learned a lot about many other singers and musicians and ( still learning ) since going on line. It's an encyclopaedia of information, and we also have to thank those of you on the forum who have kindly sent us some wonderful stuff over a long period of time and boosted our music library .
Mariana, that's the beauty of this site is we all learn from each other. Though we may not agree it's friendly banter.
Tonight my Mom and I were watching "The Way We Were" with Barbra and Robert Redford. My Dad was just rolling his eyes and went to their room to watch boxing!!
Yesterday I watched Gone Baby Gone with Morgan Freeman, near the end a certain four letter word was used which I detest but it came so unexpectedly and the way it was phrased had me choking with laughter and shock! The character who used the word was reprimanded by her husband!!!
Anxiously waiting to receive all 4 series of The Armstrong/Miller Show, and Downton Abbey Series 3. I think Armstrong/Miller are hillarious and as for Downton, OMG I can't wait until January which is when they show it here. LOL
I want to see that one also Marian. My Mum and I are big fans!! I didn't tell her about Lady Sybil though. Dad is only interested in the Free Bates plot
