I saw an advert for the Christmas cd--called strangely enough--"Christmas with Connie Talbot.".

A very sweet picture of Connie on the cover.

They showed film of her over there and she had people coming up to her all the time just to say hello and shake her hand, and especially lots of Japanese people wanting to be photographed with her.

Perhaps they think she is like an English Shirley Temple--she certainly is as cute and talented enough !!

Connies song "Three Little Birds" is a calypso style song and quite repetetive, but none the less she is a sweet little girl and if she makes it and furthers a career then good luck to her.
Her songs are on Youtube.

Just watched it on Youtube, and I still cannot believe the song is the American #1

Let me put this #1 in perspective, so that Robert won't have sleepless nights.

Connie's song is #1 on the physical singles chart. The only US record store that still sells physical singles is Virgin Megastore and there are only a handful of locations primarily in NYC, SF, and LA. And their stock is very limited and mostly UK imports! :) I wouldn't be able to purchase a physical single anywhere in the Washington metro area. :x So people may have ordered this single on line. Even still, I expect she sold around 1000 copies in a country of 300 million people. So it's nice that Connie has a #1, but this is hardly the start of another British invasion.

I hoped you would be able to clear up the controversy Paul.
They said on TV that she was number 1 on the Hot 100 singles chart, but didn't explain what this is, so thankyou for the explanation.
I'm sure Robert will be pleased too

T.I. featuring Rihanna has been #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with Live Your Life for several weeks. (I'm sure you all can hum a few bars of that!) Connie is not in the top 50 and I doubt she's even in the top 100; I don't have access to the full list). So the TV report was a bit inaccurate ... I'm sure that's a first.

The Hot 100 singles chart is a combination of radio airplay, physical single sales, digital single sales, and digital streaming. Since the physical single sales are minuscule, they don't play much of a factor in chart position.

Billboard publishes many other singles charts and Connie was #1 on the physical singles chart.
