Recording dates

Post by nickthebottlewasher » Fri Dec 07, 2012 7:38 pm

Please could somebody tell me the dates that Matt recorded "Alone Am I" and "Christmas Magic"? If possible, could you also tell me who wrote "Christmas Magic" and when, and also the date that Roy Budd wrote "Alone Am I"? I'm intending to play these two tracks in "Memory Lane" and would appreciate the information. Thank you so much for your help.

Hi Nick,

Christmas Magic was written by Mark Lawrence and first recorded in 1961 by Frankie Avalon.

Matt's recording was made for 'Pop-Pourri ‘61' – Saturday 2nd December 1961 - BBC Light Programme

If you are interested in recording dates and details may I recommend the Special Edition of Michele's Book which includes a book co written by Michele and I called 'Special Reserve'.

Yes it's not part of the normal recording session section because it's a radio recording not made for record. You'll find the information in Part 7 – Live and Radio Recordings issued on Compact Disc.

The composer isn't included in the book though.
