Just for the record Keith---I have been enjoying Charlie Landsborough's music for some time--but I agree-very underrated singer/songwriter.

Mariana, I'm glad you also appreciate Charlie; he is
very popular in Ireland where he now lives. Although
he is a Liverpudlian most people here have never heard of him.

Hi Keith, Marian and everyone,

Yes, Charlie is VERY popular and when there is a request show on the radio, he is always played.

Charlie's song, "Your still around" is VERY moving and if this song doesn't stop you dead in your tracks, well nothing will!

Listening to the best of Matt right now. Happy birthday for today on which would have been your 78th birthday.

Michael Ball played one of your songs yesterday as did Sir Terry this morning on BBC Radio 2.
Both presenters said how much they admired your music and went on to say that you left this world far too early.

I'm listening again to Matt's "Live In Australia", when he's describing his cockney wit ol:
John, "I Won't Send Roses" and other Mack and Mabel songs seems to have been neglected by David Jacobs of late, unless I've missed something
It's David's favourite or at least one of his favourite musicals.
Ours too.

I'm listening to Malcolm Laycock's always fabulous programme. The first group is by Artie Shaw. So be sure to listen, my fellow fans.

Coming up later in the programme: Louis Prima, Kelly Smith, and Frank Sinatra.

Mr Laycock's programme continues to be one of the very best on Radio 2!

One of Jerry's finest Lena and Harry. Another being, of course as I have mentioned before, "Chapel In The Moonlight". He recorded a lot of songs with "moon" in the title, didn't he? 8)

I am listening fascinatedly to The Golden Age, a very young
Matt Monro CD kindly transferred from LPs and sent to me
by my good friend Ed from Orlando. The songs on it are
so rare that they are not featured on The Rare Monro. One number,
I'll Never Have a Sweetheart, isn't listed on Matt's Songbook.
We think they may well be the outcome of Matt's
first visit to a recording studio, Decca. He sings with backing
chorus and is liberal in the use of grace notes - stylistic aids
he soon declared redundant. I'm indebted to Ed for the seasonal
gift of Matt Monro memorabilia - a collector's item.
Keith

PS And I finally got to hear, A Story of Ireland.

Keith, The Golden Age and I'll Never Have a Sweetheart were released on a Fontana 45 in 1958/59.
You'll find them listed in the discography, the full list.
This was the same time A Story of Ireland came out, also on the Fontana label.
I expect you are very pleased with your new CD of Matt's early songs, it was very kind of Ed to send them. :D :D
