Thanks for the tip, Keith.
I've just started to read 'The Haunting of Hill House' by Shirley Jackson.
Spooooky!

Hi Gray
I've scoured the bookshops at various locations
but none of them had The Book What I Wrote,
by Eddie Braben, in stock. I'll try the library next.
I'm glad to seen you are such an avid reader, it's
a rewarding pastime that's been eclipsed by television.
Keith

Hi Keith,
There are 5 copies available at Abebooks.co.uk - some hard cover, others in paperback, varying in condition. I'm sure you'd find one to suit you there.
There are also 3 copies at shops on ebay.
Marian

Just reading Nigel Slater's book "Eating For England".
Tales that most of us can relate to, our eating habits at the table, or eating out with family and friends, and stories of every kind of food imaginable with descriptions from the very basic cup of tea and familiar biscuits and delicious mouth watering foods to descriptions of your lifetimes favourite food that could suddenly have the reverse effect after reading how they are prepared and what actually goes into them.
All with very dry humour

Hi Marian and Gray.
At last I've started reading Eddie Braben's book. Of course
I knew from the title that it wouldn't be a great literary
work; however I am enjoying the history of Eric & Ern
as seen through the eyes of the author. Uplifting reminiscences
laced with humour. I can readily forgive the occasional lapses
in the grammar and proof-reading. Thanks, folks.

Yes, I enjoyed that book also, dead easy to read and a giggle to boot! :)

I'm reading "Colditz" by P.R. Reid. Just started it and it seems well written and very interesting.

I loved the series of "Colditz" when it was on Tv, based on that same book, I do believe.

We only mentioned Hattie Jacques today John.
She was in the 1948 film "Oliver" that we watched again this afternoon although only a couple of shots of her singing in the pub.

I think that was one of her first appearances in films Lena and Harry. She was always my favourite comedy actress, I remember when I was little we always used to have "Sykes" on and remember it being on the news when she died in 1980 aged 58 and I was devastated. I was only 9 at the time as well.

Yes, she didn't only appear in the Carry On Films and it was a shame when she passed away. We always watched those shows and of course the tv Hancock series.
