REMEMBERING DUSTY

Post by karl » Sat Mar 02, 2013 4:47 pm

14 years ago today we lost one of our most loved female stars - Dusty Springfield.

Last night's BBC 4 shows were a fitting tribute for two anniversaries as this November will be Dusty's 50th anniversary as a solo star.

Although we watch our favourite stars often on dvd etc; when you see lots of footage of them (same with Matt) it brings home to you just how great they were and somehow it's like seeing them for the first time with fresh eyes.

Dusty's duets with both Mel Torme & Tom Jones was wonderful.

I know John, it's scary. I can still remember that day as her secretary called to give me the news before the press release.

I've just had a call from my 83 year old aunt saying she sat up watching Dusty untl midnight last night and really enjoyed it but also felt sad. She and my late uncle were instumental in introducing me to a lot of great music as they bought records when I was a child and I alway used to love going to their house to listen ot them. And yes, they bought Matt Monro too!

Wow 14 years since Dusty passed. :( Someone around my office has been humming and singing her songs, and probably is a mega fan, but not as major as Karl.

Yes it was great to see Dusty again I only watched the hour one at 9 oclock but well worth it, it was fantastic.
It's hard to believe it is 14 years since she left us, my mother died the same year.
