THE BEVERLEY SISTERS

Post by Lena & Harry Smith » Tue Mar 03, 2009 12:19 am

We watched LEGENDS on channel 4 this evening featuring "THE BEVERLEY SISTERS".
Forget "Girls Aloud and any other of the whining female groups around these days.
These Three sisters ..twins Teddie and Babs and older sister Joy had more talent than any of those could ever dream of, with recordings and Tv appearances particularly in the Fifties and the Sixties
There were clips of their many successful appearances and tributes and memories from Jimmy Tarbuck Cannon and Ball.
We saw them in a show about Three Years ago and they were fantastic even though in their Seventies.

I saw that advertised yesterday, but missed it, Lena and Harry. They usually repeat these later in the week, I think.

Yes, they were pretty Robert, and very down to earth.
Born in Bethnal Green and as they say, You can take the girl out of the Eastend, but you can't take the Eastend out of the girl.

The Beverly sisters are amazing-it is a while since I saw them, and they must have been in their 70's, but they were still looking good !!

They are good fun to watch too. When we saw them about Three years ago they were sitting on the stage with their legs dangling over the edge and telling a few jokes in between the songs.  but I suppose One of the nicest things about the BEVERLEY'S is that they have always genuinely got on so well and are still as close as ever.

Even today they still dress alike. They also insisted on receiving their M.B.E. ( Member Of The British Empire ) medals together from the Queen in 2006.

In one of the Craft Magazines that I used to buy-there was a huge article about the Beverley sisters--with photos of all the wonderful Tapestry Cushions they used to make---beautiful work from them.

Their dressing attire was always carefully created and always well thought out so not surprised at that Marian.
