JACK JONES/JOHNNYMATHIS
JACK JONES/JOHNNYMATHIS
Yesterday I noticed some great titles by both artists onEbay, their back catalogue albums on cd that we have wanted released oncd for years.
I was wary that they were burned cd's or bootlegs so I emailed the seller who tells me they are on the Retro Time label from Korea (so they are still possible illegal). Reviews from buyers are good.
They are not cheap around the £11 mark but they are supposed to be digitally remastered with full artwork.
I think I will stick to burning them myself !

I have checked out the JM cds, and I agree a lot of them do apear to be new to cd---but I have heard nothing from the US website or Fan club about these recordings, so I do feel a little suspicious--I would not want to pay almost £10.00 plus pp for them, especially as I copied them all from my own Lps several years ago.

Marian I checked to see what else he had by Jack and there are two The Singles cd's. One in particular looks very interesting as many of the titles are unfamiliar to me apart from Sweet Changes which I do have on a single.
Comments froim buyers are very good so I may buy that one.

Re: JACK JONES/JOHNNYMATHIS
I have found out that these are actually "bootleg" cds, not released by Sony, from someone in Estonia.I believe Sony know about it, but are taking no action as yet. I am sure that is strictly illegal to do this, and as for charging £10.00--when a blank disc can just cost pennies when bought in bulk, is taking things too far. i think that Ebay will eventually catch up with him, and he could be completely banned from Ebay.
Funny thing--if you list a dvd, a message comes up to say it is illegal to sell a copied dvd--they should do the same for cd's--I think many people may be buying these thinking that they are genuine cds.

Marian did you not read my earlier post about them being Korean imports?
Re: JACK JONES/JOHNNYMATHIS
Karl, yes, I did read that--but my information says they are from Estonia.

Re: JACK JONES/JOHNNYMATHIS
How did this Korean bootleg company get its hands on the Jack Jones RCA masters when Jack owns them?

Re: JACK JONES/JOHNNYMATHIS
He may not have the masters--he could have just recorded them from his own LP's--if he had some sophisticated equipment, I am sure they would sound good. And it is not too difficult to replicate a cd cover.
I looked at his site and the 2 artists he has most of are Johnny Mathis and Jack Jones--a few other female singers--but not in the same leaue as JM and Jj.
I am surprised he is getting away with it for so long as Ebay are so strict. I once got into trouble for desribing something as "Nearly New"---and when I queried this, they said that if anyone was doing a search foir "New", mine would show up and it would be misleadng---despite there being over 11.000 items listed as being "Nearly New" I had to change mine.

Marian do you have your JJ cd already? I hope mine arrives soon. Also I wonder why Johnny is cheaper than Jack?
