Henry the tv commentators always stress England like it's the centre of the Universe, so I want to stress Andy Murray is SCOTTISH!!!

I don't suppose Henry will hold that against Andy being Scottish any more than we do Karl  :D :D and anyway as far as England is concerned, and commentators stress England as the centre of the Universe, allowing for the fact that England's population is Ten times that of Scotland, of all foreign immigration to Britain less than a quarter of One per cent went to Scotland, so they seemed to know something, unless it's those bl..dy bagpipes that put them off.

Yes, it was a great win for Andy, and well deserved too. :D

L&H no it has nothing to do with Henry, it's the commentators. In the past I've found that when it's an Englsh person who wins they are English but when they're Scottish they suddenly become British. I just wanted to emphasise that a Scot won Wimbeldon!!!

And hey, hey, hey don't you disrespect the bagpipes or I'll cancel your tickets to the Tattoo! I may even get my Viking cousins to pay you a "friendly" visit :)

My favourite phrase to people who P**s me off is "Don't Mess With A Scottish Norwegian!

If it wasn't for Scotland there would be nae Whisky!!! However that wouldn't bother me as the only whisky I do drink is Canadian.

Very well done to Andy Murray a great "British" sportsman on achieving a great win over Novak Jokovic :D .................as I mentioned on another page, will Andy represent Scotland or GB if Scotland gain independance ? :)

That's a thought Robert, and Karl, while I do see what you mean about the emphasis regarding an English man being English etc, but when all is said and done, if Wimbledon had been relying on the Scots to fill the seats at these vital matches.... the Scots with their short arms and long pockets :D they would have had to fill them with cardboard cut outs, so well done to all the Brit supporters.
As far as bagpipes, I can bear with them although not my favourite instrument to listen to, but some years ago our then Scottish doctor visited me.. as family doctors did in those days. He hated bagpipes and what he referred Scottish dancers to, I've never forgotten and I wouldn't print here. :D
We hate Whiskey Karl, never touch it, not even for medicinal purposes, and yet we still seam to receive it from someone at Christmas time. :o :o

L&H I take it you are joking with regard to your comments about the Scots as we are well known for our generous hospitality - infact the worst case of hospitality I had was in Romford.

My friend in Boston is off Irish descent and he hates Riverdance -says they are like stick insects on legs. I told him that was his Irish heritage he was mocking.

I happen to enjoy Some Scottish music and exiled Scots always get teary eyed at the soudn of the Pipes, if they are played properly it's great. Glen Campbell evens plays the pipes but with a name like Campbell it's appropriate.

MAJESTIC MURRAY

The weight of expectation, the long wait - lifted, done;
the tennis crown once more by a Britisher won.
Triumph forged in the furnace of Centre Court
whose other conquerer was the racquet sport,
while victory over uncomprehended pain
was won by the bonnie burghers of Dunblane.

Never mind Marian, they'll repeat
the climactic moments ad infinitum,
in well-deserved tribute to him.

Of course I was joking Karl, and my Great nephew who has lived in Edinburgh for a number of years has told us many times of their friends and neighbours welcoming generosity. Anyway to confirm my thoughts, I had a secret crush on Marty Pellow some years ago now that must tell you something :D :D

L&H I have seen Marti Pellow twice in musicals and he was great - fantastic voice.

Glad you were joking, I guess I can stop the Braveheart squad from paying you a visit now. :)
