Mariana recently wondered who sang the original version.

I just checked online and it was Kay Kyser in 1948, Henry - did you know that?

Karl, I knew about Kay Kyser & his songs....He was very similar on many of his songs to Sammy Kaye with singing song titles.
I have some of his TV shows on tape from the 40s - "Kollege of Musical Knowledge" w/Ginny Simms & Harry Babbit

I am glad you set the record straight Heny as I thought Kay was a woman.
