The Singer's Singer

Post by lori » Sat Mar 14, 2009 4:54 am

Hi Keith, I read and enjoyed all of your comments, and felt very toughed your remembering me in Kansas...I have also tried to involve other Kansans in my love for the Singers Singer.. Ordered tapes etc.. So Kansas too is aware of our great Matt Monro...

Hi Lori
I have had the good fortune to compose several verses
inspired by 'the singer's singer'. You would need to scroll
back through The Lounge to find them. However, to give
you a flavour thereof, I am taking the liberty of reprising
one just for you. It reflects a favourite Matt Monro recording
of mine:

SPRING IS HERE

Three musical maestros simultaneously
conquering the Everest of their art:
a meditative Richard Rodgers melody
worthy of Massenet; and a melancholic
lyric by the poet of Tin Pan Alley, Lorenz Hart.
Like the confluence of two idyllic streams,
the Matt Monro rendition gliding
into the flowing orchestral accompaniment,
massaging the aural senses
while tenderly tearing the emotions apart ...

Keith-I know how you like to get things right--it is actually "Lorenz Hart ".

Thanks Marian(a)
I thought I knew the spelling, and compounded the error
by breaking the golden rule: 'Never assume'.
Keith

PS At the risk of appearing conceited, I am very pleased
with the poem and I am indebted to you for ensuring it
is blemish-free.
