Mariana and others may be interested to know that Brian Mathew played a "rare" Johnny Marthis track on Sounds of the Sixties last Saturday (7 September) called Come Back. It was indeed rare as I'd never heard it before, and I've heard a lot of his rarities.

I've never heard it either, I listened to the show but missed that song, just heard a sound clip and wasn't too impressed.

I wonder if Mariana has it on record, it would be interesting to see what it was released on.

I have some old US 45's but was unaware of that title.

I have it I know--just cannot recall where just now--I have a feeling that he also sang it at some concerts, way back in the 80's.

Or maybe that was "Come running"--or "Come back to me".

I am almost sure that it is on one of the old Mercury recordings-most are now on cd.

"CHANCES ARE" you may be right!!!

I just checked SOTS website again for the title and discovered Rare Rockin Records is not the title of the album but the record label, I looked at their website but could not find anything by Johnny Mathis, I also checked my Mercury LP's and no track with (Come Back) that name either.

The song is definitely not "Come Running or "Come Back To Me" and is not on any of his studio albums. Brian Mathew said it was an "oddity" as it was released on HMV in the UK when Mathis was contracted to Columbia, which had just launched CBS. He said, "so this dusty old 45 holds a lot of unanswered questions".

This was recorded on an HMV 45 RPM in 1963. Arranged and conducted by Don Costa. "Your teenage Dreams" on the reverse according to Youtube. Also on Mercury label.

Thanks Harry and Lena--I was just about to say that it could be one of those that is on a single, but not an Lp---I do actually have that single--but do not remember the last time I listened to it.

I saw the HMV single online, we never had any singles by Johnny on HMV just some 78's & 45's on Fontana.

Marian you could be sitting on a little goldmine there!

Thanks to Jon for saying that track is not on any album as I was going blind searching for it.

I have tried selling some of those old JM singles on Ebay, but had very little luck with them. It might be worth digging that one out though...

Johnny Mathis has a new Christmas cd due out soon-available in HMV USa in October, not sure about Uk--it is called "Sending you a little Christmas", and consists of 6 new tracks, plus 6 Christmas duets.

I have so many different Christmas cds from JM-I think he may have released more Christmas albums than anyone else.
